PS We want to install (what Toyota refers to as an "RF-Transmiting System" into a recently purchased Toyota. Owners Manual says we need to get a document (from our dealer) listing Do's & Don'ts, eg,
Avoid this Frequency[-Band,' Don't use more than "x Watts" of transmit power, where to place antenna & where Not to place it, etc.

Our dealer can't find it… Can anyone else? Has anybody else ever seen such an advisory doc't?

What happened to the SAAB's that you where going to convert to EV?

        • Realised that even when converted, they were still unreliable shit boxes…

      • Try contacting Toyota AU customer service.

      • We want to install… an "RF-Transmiting System"

So, what is it? A garage opener? Remote central locking? A Bluetooth capable radio/transmitter? A wifi enabled dash cam? Or something more serious? heaven forbid, a UHF radio?

Can’t wait for the 3 page thread you make about how UHF radio waves suck the chem trails out of the exhaust of over flying jets and turns it into nano-bots that attack the mucus membranes in the nose and how this causes 5G radiation that in turn gives you a rare form of cancer causing COVID… Oh, and I almost forgot… "China"

Get your “RF-Transmitting System” installed by a professional, they will know what goes where. In the time it takes them, you will be able to craft yourself up a nifty looking hat made out of the finest aluminium foil…

Or just buy some aftermarket ones if its not for warranty. The genuine ones will be way more expensive than say the equivalent in a Ryco.

    Cabin Filter: RCA164MS (or RCA164M or RCA164P) $37 @ SCA
    Air Filter: A1559 $38 @ SCA

This. I have a 2011 Corolla and use these exact same parts from Ryco.

That being said, try Ryde Toyota on eBay if you really want genuine Toyota parts. Free shipping too.

Why, everything they make aftermarket these days are usually better than factory?

China usually insists on taking a License to continue making a product, eg, after its "maker" stops getting it made there.

The licensed "copy-cat" maker may need to change packaging, as the standards may change (eg, less stringent testing? Use of cheaper materials? etc.)

OTOH, why would an aftermarket maker risk lotsa returns & loss of sales by trying to push low- quality products into a competitive market?

If they can make $$, while still running (perhaps even:) the same factory tp make the "same" product in, why wouldn't they do things ~the same as they were, when the overseas licensor's people were in-charge?

Some licensees might want to compete on quality, at a lower price…

PS When the World pivots to EVs, lotsa items won't even be needed, that once were, in those smelly, noisy ICE cars…"

  • Dealer, Amayama (dont think they hold stock).

For cabin filter, I wouldn't bother buying genuine. Engine is a personal choice thing. I

'm currently using a Wesfil (?) Cabin and genuine engine air filter in the same year Corolla. The cabin one cost $20 off ebay vs $50 for a genuine one… the genuine engine air filter was $45 or so from Sydney Toyota parts on ebay.

  • be careful so many fake genuine toyota filters on ebay, i use to buy parts from castle hill toyota they were good for pricing.

    • Don’t you mean genuine fake 🙃

https://www.sparesbox.com.au/ Filters on an 8 yo car definitely does not need to be OEM

Filters are generally made by OEM’s. What you are doing is mixing the word “genuine” with OEM. The word OEM does not mean “genuine part”. Ryco, for example, is an OEM. They make filters to fit a wide range of vehicles. They supply them as both a genuine part to auto makers and to consumers as an after market part.

Typically, a car maker does not make its own filters, they use an OEM to produce them. That OEM makes the filters to the car makers specifications and puts it in a box with “car makers logo” on the box. They may also sell that part under their own OEM name as well. Same part, same factory, different package.

definitely does not need to be OEM genuine

      FTFY.

  • For cabin filter, go for Sakura, they have those with active charcoal.

  • An option is going to the Super cheap auto, Repco, Autobarn or other automotive retailers.

8yo Corolla? Don’t buy genuine and pay extra. Just go to your nearest parts supplier and get whatever they have if you can’t work out what to get online.
