Watched some of it and looks like a good movie. Free due to Veteran's Day (USA) or our Remembrance Day.

Red Tails is a 2012 American war film directed by Anthony Hemingway in his feature film directorial debut, and starring Terrence Howard and Cuba Gooding Jr. The film is about the Tuskegee Airmen, a group of African-American United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) servicemen during World War II. The characters in the film are fictional, although based on real individuals.[6] The film was produced by Lucasfilm and released by 20th Century Fox, and would be the last film Lucasfilm releases before being purchased by The Walt Disney Company nine months later. This was Cuba Gooding Jr.'s first theatrically released film in five years since his starring role in 2007's Daddy Day Camp. Wikipedia.

    IMDb rating 5.9/10

  • EDIT: I take it back he is an Executive producer in the Wikipedia entry.

Its under the production of Lucas Films .. but George Lucas was not involved at all right? I didn't see any credit for him on Rotten Tomatoes.

Also available on Disney+ (ok, I know it need subscription. Just saying it's there)

Well if the trailer is anything to go by I'll pass.

Looks like the producers of Pearl Harbor were involved in the aerial combat scenes.

Full of ridiculous CGI maneuvers and combat, with the classic "500mph at 10ft through a ball of fire within touching distance of a bad guy while screaming and pulling a funny face" scenes.

If you pull hard enough on the controls you can get a plane to turn at right angles it seems. Crazy.

      • And no g-forces.

    • IIRC the combat in red tails isn't too obnoxiously stupid but the rest of the movie sucks.

      I'll try spinning. That's a good trick.

  • A war movie with PG13 rating…

It really is a live action version of a cartoon movie.

From memory at one point the aircraft were doing what i can only describe as a 180 handbrake turn in a dogfight.

  • Oooh, it's a stinker….sorry…ultra cliched, just horrible. But free, so I'll move.

You can't beat their review of the star wars movies.

  • For those wondering, this isn't something to add to your account, it's literally just a youtube video you can watch (that will likely get pulled or replaced with a trailer or something after the promotion ends).

  • Watched the first 15 mins of it - feels like a proper B grade movie with the likes of Kung Fury and Iron Sky.

Not as bad as people think if you have your expectations set appropriately.

Is this as good as Howard the Duck?

  • I hope it's as well produced as The Room.

  • The opening scene is just awful, but the rest of the movie is relatively OK. The script writing really lets it down through, the dialogue is cheesy and poor. There are some good actors in this (so many actors from The Wire), so I can only assume the piss poor script and character dialogue doesn't really let anybody shine through. The dog fighting scenes are for the most part good, but there there's some stupid Hollywood sensationalism thrown in there (e.g. talking after getting hit in the chest by cannon fire). The special effects were quite too, a little too Michael Bay at times but for the most part good. The German and white US actors were all pretty piss poor 1 dimensional retards with really spastic dialogue… The movie could have been so much more had the script not been what it was…
