LG 27GL850-B 144Hz Gaming Monitor $699 + Shipping (Free Pickup) @ Umart

200

Pretty decent price post-COVID for the 27GL850.

Obviously the Dell S2721DGF is still cheaper, but for people set on the LG, this is a decent price.

I think the Dell S2721DGF monitor is a better pick up and it's cheaper.

Yep, Hardware Unboxed gives the dell a slight edge. Link to the Vid

      • Are you skipping over the lack of sRGB emulation? Not everybody wants oversaturated colours in their standard desktop experience. Both of these monitors should be $450 or less anyway. Bring on the competition to drive them down.

27gl850 is wide gamut too… same issue and if you calibrate them they both display sRGB perfectly fine.

          • -1

@Zanadar: One has an sRGB emulation mode in the monitor settings, the other one requires you to do everything in software, which is not ideal from a creative or home user perspective. You're left with oversaturation that can at times border on painful, particularly with the presentation of the red part of the spectrum. Games also get zero use out of WCG unless they offer HDR.

            But sure, downvote me.

@jasswolf: I believe that the 27gl850 locks out the osd RGB when set to sRGB mode so its not any better.

              • @Zanadar: It's a much, much better starting point, particularly for novice users. The gamma curve is wildly off for sRGB otherwise.

              @jasswolf: https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/s2721dgf

"After calibration, there are no noticeable issues with any color, or with the white balance. Gamma follows the sRGB target curve almost perfectly, and the color temperature is very close to our target of 6500K."

              https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/lg/27gl850-b

"After calibration, this monitor has outstanding accuracy. Colors are displayed almost perfectly, and any remaining inaccuracies aren't noticeable."

              • @Zanadar: I'm guessing their point is that it's off without calibration (I.e. people without colourmeters).

I will add though that the 27GL850B sRGB mode isn't perfect either, in that it measures around 6800/6900K which is noticeably off from sRGB in terms of colour temperature.

                • @scix: Yep and that is my point.. they are as off as each other.. and neither enough to cause a casual user an issue.

PS5 doesn't support 2k monitor and no displayport.
Is the 144hz only available connected by displayport?

    • That is hilarious. My new XBSX plays 1440p 120hz fine on my Dell S2721DGF.

      Looks amazing.

Hello traveller from 2022, tell us more of the future!

  • Any ps5 monitor ideas?

      got this yesterday for ps5, is 599, is 28inch 4k 60hz ips

it doesnt have hdmi 2.1, as these monitors will most likely cost a fortune and are not out yet.

can still run 4k at 60 frames which is all you will get out of the ps5 on a triple A title

      • Id prefer to prioritise the 120fps @ 1080P personally but each to their own

yeh i have an aoc 27g2 as my main monitor which i use for pc games, than runs 144hz 1080p, i figured having a 4k side monitor for ps5/movies would cover all my bases

          • @Gelligan: You're not kidding - that is all your bases covered haha
            I have a 32" 4k 60hz monitor too - how do you find the 28" 4k resolution for gaming?

  • I bought this from Amazon AU few months ago. Performance is stellar.

    • Yes same. I am very impressed with mine.

      • I just need a GPU to do it justice.
