Afternoon All,

I got the inside scoop on a dealing starting at 7 pm tonight, while I haven't tested this charger as I don't have an iPhone 12, I have used other ESR gear and always found it sat in that sweet spot of good quality for a low price.

It seems like a good price for a MagSafe enabled car charger so that your shiny new iPhone doesn't fall.

  • Thanks for this, I was wondering when we'd see some good MagSafe options for car mounts.
Do you have a recommendation for a QC or PD cigarette lighter plug?

  • Good for those with wireless cars…

  • Hmm Quite a slow charger at only 7.5W output, since the iPhone 12 has the ability to wirelessly charge upto 15W. But Good for people looking for something MagSafe compatible.

    • Yeah given that only Apple's 20W charging brick can wirelessly charge at 15W, it might be a long time before we see cheaper options from AliExpress that manage to do similar.

    • Are there any other alternatives though?

Belkin offer a Magsafe car mount only with no wireless charging.

I guess with both of these products you could just plug your normal charger into the phone from cigarette lighter adaptor if you needed faster charging.

Advantage with this one is not having to plug in the charging cable and single hand mount/removal while maintaining charging capability.

  • For a heavy phone relying on the aircon vent to hold it still is not really practical. I much prefer some integrated wireless charging solution (although they are usually around AUD$50+ and require a bit of interior trim dismantling).

  • According to the official product page, I believe you need a "HaloLock iPhone 12 case, [or] official MagSafe iPhone 12 case. Not compatible with non-magnetic cases."

    https://www.esrgear.com/products/halolock-magnetic-wireless-…

    Example case: https://www.esrgear.com/products/iphone-12-12-pro-cloud-soft…

Also keep in mind that this won't work with non-iPhone 12 phones.

    Pros
Magsafe-style car mount for your iPhone 12
    Has wireless charging

    Cons
Need Apple or other magnetic case (and not many available options at the moment)
    Charges only at 7.5W
Can’t use with other iPhone models

I would wait to get a 15W "Made for Magsafe" car mount.

Yea. I did say that in the title.

      • Say what exactly?

        • That it was a MagSafe charger. You mentioned 'Not compatible with no-magnetic cases'.

Thanks, I was looking for a replacement car mount since my current one needs replacing. This will do the job quite nicely until better ones come out.

The price ended up being different… I got:

    • $3 USD off by clicking Get coupons in the product listing
    • $2 USD off for paying via PayPal
    • $3 USD off using the coupon code in this deal

Then I paid $2.35 USD for "AliExpress Standard Shipping" since it said the free shipping option would have it arriving before 02/15… is that February 15? No thanks.

GST was also added on at the end.

Total price including shipping was $25.88 USD.

  • The code does not work.

  • I know getting anything that doesn't ship from the AU warehouse takes ages, but ESR want another 20 days before they're going to ship this! Anyone seen any movement on their order?
