  • Been cheaper before at costco itself:

  • How does this compare with the Eufy system?

    • They dont really as its cables vs WiFi.

This is a BNC system which imo suck. Better of with a IPC system if you can get it cabled tho and Eufy are a wireless solution

From what I can see, this Swann system is IPC, not BNC. I agree BNC is crap in general.

Still wouldn't recommend Swan cameras though. They're prone to failure. The software is clunky. The cameras themselves are a bit flimsy.

For $1000 or thereabouts you're getting into the territory of decent brands such as Hikvision and Dahua. I'd only buy Swann as a visual deterrent or if they were heavily, heavily discounted/on clearance. Like, 8 cameras for $500 sort of discounted.

My understanding is that Eufy make better quality cameras in general, but again it comes down to Wifi vs cabled.

        • Yeh your right these are PoE but still suck lol

        • Its PoE,
I bought 2 and ditch Arlo.
I’ve been reviewing on YouTube they seem comparable to Reolink and it makes alarm sound as well as turn on spot light which hopefully enough to deter the thieves away.

I dont have both systems so cant comment on their picture quality.

      what I know:
      - This Swan system is using PoE according to https://www.swann.com/au/swnvk-875808fb?bvstate=pg:2/ct:r whereas Eufy camera is wireless system.
      - This Swan can record 24/7 onto a hdd whereas only Eufy indoor cameras can record 24/7 onto their micro SD cards.

      • I've got the Eufy myself and very happy with it. Looking for something for a mate. Sounds like should just get him to get the Eufy and wait until Cyber Monday.

  • Would reolink be better? Or pay a bit more for Hikvision / Dahua? From what I read, the mobile app/software on reolink is pretty simple to use and set up. Not sure if that's the same with Hikvision/Dahua.

    • Pay the money for Hikvision or Dahua, its better quality

      • Coming from someone who has both systems, reolink is the winner as long as your okay with the 4mm lenses. The reolink AI cams are amazing with the detection eliminating false positives and the UI looks super clean

        • As someone who has used many many systems, you will get what you pay for. The higher grade image sensors and processors make a big difference in different environments, the greater levels of integration may also help if you have a smarthome

    Not sure about Wired version.
Bought WIFI version from Costco. returned day after. the app is rubbish, keep crashing when pairing, unable to pair the camera at all.
    Wasted 3 hours.

    End up getting Eufy.

I have a similar setup from Swann and can't complain about it at all. I'm not a CCTV expert on every FPS and feature that's available so looked at bang for buck and features. For me I 100% needed 24/7 recording locally and not only motion activated recording as well as recording sound.

You'll find a ton of negative reviews about Swann and their products but I'm yet to find a real reason to not like my system. I tend to think people are comparing champagne products to beer budgets - My Swann setup didn't cost me $2,000 and I don't need to be able to read a license plate on a car 15m away from the camera. The iPhone app works simply, the PC program (HomeSafe View) is a little gritty to use but it's intuitive and you can copy video without having to plug a USB into the system.

The clarity of the 5MP is pretty damn good and the sensitivity of the mic is better than the spec says - can easily pic up people's conversations of people walking on the street, well over the 5 metres it claims.

The night vision is pretty good quality around my house. It doesn't go 40m as claimed, however that's because we have things that bounce the infrared back and block it from reaching very far.
