"Buy the rumour, sell the news".
People FOMO in PFE will get rekt.
I can't remember how many times I've read about a covid vaccine/treatment being effective without seeing the details.
In the related article somewhere it says that they asked a few volunteers with some given the vaccine, and some a placebo.
Then they see if any of those develop symptoms, if they have, they checked whether it is caused by the vaccine itself or not.
It's all over news today, tune in any news channel.
They said they plan to mass produce with estimation of 1.3bn by the end of 2021.
Yes I know it's all over the news, just like the news with Gilead and Moderna. Each time the experts expressed optimism about progress, but early data is early data. It will be ready when it's ready. Even your own link says
Pfizer Inc. did not provide any more details about those cases, and cautioned the initial protection rate might change by the time the study ends.
There are 11 different vaccines in Phase 3 trials (large-scale efficacy trials), 18 vaccines in Phase 2 trials (expanded safety trials) and 39 vaccines in Phase 1 trials (small-scale safety trials) and another 155 vaccines being developed that are not ready for human trials.
For the regulators to approve a vaccine for general use there needs to be proof that it is both safe and effective. Ideally it should also be cheap and easy to distribute so as many people as possible can be vaccinated around the world (otherwise you still require travel restrictions).
Regulators have previously said they would give the green light to a vaccine that has at least a 50% effectiveness rate, a bar this vaccine looks on course to exceed.
For context, the seasonal Flu vaccines are around 50% effective on average (some years higher and some lower). 90% effectiveness is good news, but they do caution that it's only been a few months. They don't know long it will remain effective.
So far, 38,955 people have received two doses of the vaccine
Pfizer has said it plans to apply to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for emergency approval as soon as safety data allows, possibly as soon as the third week of November.
Then the FDA will need time to review the data. Perhaps they will have some questions that requires more time to answer. Each country has its own approval process. In Australia the TGA would have to approve.
There are also logistical challenges, not least as the vaccine needs to be stored at -80°C, meaning that even in developed countries there could be difficulties in distributing the jab.
That's not great, perhaps one of the other vaccines will be better in this regard.
This article is what I am quoting from. What has Pfizer's Covid vaccine trial found and is this a breakthrough?
Recovery. We were in deep shit before Covid. Nothing has changed.
Stonks go up!
Depends on ones personal situation
If they don’t own property or shares they hope/think it will crash - these guys generally miss out all together
If they own property or shares they hope/think it will boom - these guys generally fare pretty well except for a few hiccups along the way
