Can I ask out of interest, why are these "simple" pieces of plastic so expensive?

    • +2

Because a 3 tonne vehicle can drive over them without smashing them.

      • Thanks for the reply, so like a Canyonero? ;)

      • Also designed and made in Australia

Quality and patented design. If you can't afford a pair you probably can't afford a 4wd rig and all the running costs ;)

        Gatekeeping 4wding, cool…

Not really, I'm mean it can be expensive if you get all the latest gadgets or pretty affordable if you do most of your own repairs and DIY mods.

Cheaping out on an emergency tool like MaxTraxx is just asking for it

Plenty of YouTube videos to demonstrate the difference between an Aldi one and a Tred/maxtrax.

If you can't afford Tred/Maxtrax, I'm sure the Aldi one will be just as good but it is almost single use. If you need to do a few recoveries on the same day, you may be struggling.

How about using two aldi ones stacked?

        • Lol. As much as you may be kidding, I am actually curious.

I hypothesize that the top one will slip from the lower if you actually manage to climb into the boards in the first place.

You are paying for the brand name, for most people the X-Bull at quarter the price are more then adequate.

Great thanks everyone for the replies, good to know!

Sorry saw I got a negative vote, not trying to be negative, just really curious.

  • I kept thinking these were stretchers :-/

My two cents buying these verses the much cheaper other options out there would be this.

If you are buying them with no real expectation to need to use them, buy the cheap ones. For one or two uses the difference will be almost exactly the same. If they are likely to get regular use, buy these. They will put up with repeated abuse much better.

I don't mind lending my XBull, (two pairs delivered for $105) and don't mind if they get abused
I won't lend out my MaxTrax.
They should have their own recovery gear, it's not that expensive.
(Paid $188 each pair Maxtrax on discount.)
