Amazon.com.au - Searching for goods from Aussie sellers

Hi All,

I always exclusively used EBay to date and have only recently jumped onto Amazon.com.au (not the US site) however I'm finding it hard to determine which items and/or sellers are based in Australia. While I love a bargain and don't mind waiting nor where it comes from, most of the time when I need to buy something it's because I need it in relatively soon-ish (like a week). On Ebay there is a nice option that selects only Australia only. However on Amazon I can't find this option.

I've been relying on going to the stage of checkout to see the delivery date but it's so inefficient and wastes lots of time. Is there an option I'm missing somewhere that allows me to filter from local sellers only?

Thanks!

Unfortunately I don't believe there's any way to do that. The general advice is to not buy from third party sellers unless it ships from Amazon. Personally I've only had a minor issue once with a third party seller which I received a refund for.

  • Just buy from Amazon au. you can select just them as the seller

  • Local sellers have the option to warehouse their stuff with Amazon when listing on Amazon, for a fee.

  • It usually says from Amazon au or USA on the item listing

Yes, but many Ebay sellers say they in Australia, but actually ship from China. Your parcel takes 3 weeks to arrive.

One of the reasons I use Ebay a lot less is because they don't crack down on this sort of fraud.

Same here, I use eBay far less now for the same reason - my partner recently ordered an item from eBay and decided to buy from a particular seller because they were (supposedly) located in Australia, according to their listing . The item has taken weeks to arrive, and the parcel was marked as being sent from Pakistan.

Another thing I wish eBay would stamp out is click-bait items listed as free shipping when this isn't the case - one seller lists numerous items with "Fast Free Post" in a banner across the top of the item photo, but the listing states postage of anywhere between $20-$40, depending on the item.

      • The worst one I've seen is when you sort from cheapest to most expensive and you get the multi listing where they list the price of the unrelated item. have to scroll through so much bullshit

  • Thanks everyone for replying.

I've been playing around with it for a while now and @Nurtino you're right I am able to filter using the Prime ships from Australia checkbox/filter. Originally I thought this option filtered products that had some special requirement that required a Prime subscription. I've also been using the Delivery Day filters.

@RedHab, you're right there is a lot of dropshipping or whatever it is called these days on EBay. I normally check against delivery date to make a guestimate of when I'll get my item.

    Thanks again everyone!
