Condensation Forming on Mullion Flap of French Door Fridge

Hi All,

Have a fridge issue that I hope some fridge experts among us can advise on.

I have a French door fridge and lately noticed condensation is forming on the mullion flap

What could be causing this? Torn seal at the top, dodgy mullion flap or something else?

N.B. Fridge is out of warranty and company don't want to deal with it until I pay one of their techs to take a look.

  • Give everything a wipe down with a soft cloth and warm water, this will de-ice all seals then you can after a while see where the issue could be coming from.
It can be a faulty seal, over crowding of the compartments or something else I am not familiar with.
    Normally it starts at seals.

    • +1

Fridge is practically empty so no over filling.

Pretty sure it's not the door seals if that's what you mean. Everyday I just have to wipe down the mullion flap - that's the only place that gathers condensation.

      Thanks for your ideas anyway.

      • Hope you get it sorted.

  • I sometimes get condensation on top of the fridge seal when humidity has been high. For the past week the humidity high (80-90%) in the past week in Sydney (not sure where you are in AU).

    • Sydney here as well. My online research also suggested probably high humidity as well but the issue started a couple of weeks before we had all this rain.

  • Just to follow up on this topic, turns out it was dodgy wiring which led to a faulty mullion flap which caused the condensation.

I ordered a replacement online and just replaced it myself. No more condensation since.

For those curious and are wondering what's inside a mullion flap.
