An excellent budget 360 camera that'll be on sale for the 11/11 Singles Day promotion. Thanks to an improved exchange rate the price is better than before.

Since the initial reviews years ago it's had a lot of firmware updates to improve issues, improve quality and add other new features. It supports up to 3.5K video natively and can be bumped up to 4K with software interpolation while still looking good. A small tripod is included with the camera, but the seller has chosen to include a Xiaomi selfie stick (worth ~$20 AU) as well.

AU$ based on current Mastercard rate, GST inclusive and stackable with cashback.

This is part of Singles' Day Sales for 2020.

  • Make sure you see sample footage first, the quality isn't good enough that I would want to share it with anyone.

    • When is your sample footage dated? There were video quality issues at release but has since been fixed.

      • Well share a video of the higher quality video?

Even technically, 3.5k @ 360 degrees is very low resolution, you need at least 5k for a decent image.

  • Bought in the last deal but never arrived even after waiting 3 months, though got a refund easily enough. Might've just been unlucky.

Ended up buying the insta360 one r 360 edition, much more expensive (was $493 through tobydeals) so not really comparable, but very happy with it so far.

    • I wish the Insta360 stick has the remote button (to take photo/video) like the Xiaomi stick. I know Insta360 has voice control, but it does not work well in crowds. Remote button is much more useful.

    • I received mine from the last deal after about 2 months.

how do you guys actually do filming while walking around? Do you pop it on a long selfie stick and hold it above your head? or just hold it at chest level? I normally hold it above my head via a selfie stick (With the samsung gear 360 2016 model) and walk around like an idiot… :)

    • You don't have to have it on a selfie stick. You can get cheap gimbal for vlogging.

      Like in this yt video.

      • You need to make sure it supports 360 degrees. Not convinced that the one in the video would do it.

    • I hold the samsung 360 above my head. Not having stabilisation though the footage is near unusable when hiking.

      • you know, I had an even crazier idea - maybe you can attach a gimbal to the selfie stick first, then place your 360 on the gimbal (but would probably need a few adapters/workarounds)

        • It is a crazy idea. Gimbals have weight ratings. Do you know how much torque a 30cm selfie stick would impose on that. Let alot a 1m one.

Gimbals exist for 360 cameras, it costs 4x as much as I paid 360. Just get the gopro which doesn't need a gimbal.

          • @krisspy: You could attach the gimbal to the end of the selfie stick rather than the other way around.

or a cheap camera mount which can use go pro accessories

    • Good idea but wrong camera. That's the Xiaomi Mijia 4K, not 360 Sphere version.

  • After something to be statically mounted(preferably ceiling) in a martial arts gym for recording training footage, any recommendations?

This Xiaomi Mijia is ok and cheap enough to try out, as long as it is accessible to turn on/off. Otherwise you'd need to hardwire power to it. It can be connected remotely by smartphone app. I had it mounted underneath a drone to take 360 videos/photos.

I've been looking for a 360 cam to put on my helmet while thrashing around on the e-scooter. This seems like a pretty decent option.

Example one being held by a passenger on a scooter
    Another example on motorbike

For $156 this could be a really good option.

  • Just purchased this one with "SINGLEDAY10" coupon and it dropped the price down to $139.26 delivered.

Was contemplating on getting the Insta360 but for this price, its to good to pass. The quality looks decent enough for me. Can't wait to mount this on the motorbike
