Well regarded IEMs at a record low price for Amazon. Very widely reviewed, and extremely good value at this price.

Diffuse field target with added bass from what is considered neutral for that signature, which should present as fairly neutral to most people. The foam tips it comes with should do the trick, as the other stock option is triple flanged.

Enjoy!

not as good as the old ER-6i, and dont fit under a motorcyle helmet

  • Wouldn't go eytmotics again. Not this pair but had another more costly one. Fantastic sound, poor build quality ESPECIALLY in the jack, had 2 go where a loose connection caused one ear to go out and the other pair the plastic disintegrated around the back of the bud housing.

      amazon is great with returns.

      • +1

They are my soundpeats tws buds were hot garbage and eventually fell apart after 6 months. Went to Amazon chat advising I couldn't do an automatic return. They provided return label for postage and refunded shortly after they arrived at Amazon.

        • After how long did everything go to down hill in terms of build quality?

While I loved my er6i back in the day, I have to agree that these earphones are SO delicate. I had to get them fixed twice and after the third time, I just couldn't be bothered anymore. The end parts of the wire on both sides were just so weak.

      • That was my experience, gave up after the third pair too. For reference had the hf5s. Addicted to audio were great, the headphones not so much.

        • +1

Also had hf5s, and agree, lost an ear too many times to want to keep trying to go through warranty to get them replaced

          • @buckster: What's worse is my last pair the plastic eventually disintegrated around the driver on both side and the rubber coating protecting the cable started falling apart. If they had proper iem style cabling where you could replace housing and cable they would be perfect earphones.

So not this product, unspecified timeframe, no research into whether this was a consistent issue with the product or the brand, and no description of the conditions under which this occurred.

Ok? Not sure why the neg, especially with the boogeyman story.

      • +2

It's consistent with the brand, do a quick google search. I've had 4 or 5 cables fail. Once they are out of warranty I just buy aftermarket cables, and I recently cut a failed plug off and soldered on a new one.

I'm not finding anything notable. I'm genuinely curious if this is a problem, so please post links.

          • +1

@jasswolf: I'm an ER4XR user - the cables are quite fragile and break easily - I have two reserve pairs in storage in case one fails.

            • -2

@u3g32: Aren't these just MMCX cables anyway? So the advice here is to get a 3rd party cable, which is not uncommon for IEMs in this price bracket and below.

              • +1

@jasswolf: MMCX yeah, but it's angled so that most third part ones don't sit right - the included cable has a 45 degree connector so that it sits flat.

                • -2

@shaolinbear: One quick glance on AliE has me looking at cables and connectors for this purpose. I'm sure there's a $30 solution that would stand the test of time if the stock cable is too thin and easily frayed.

          • -2

            @jasswolf: A quick google search.

Negative reviews for this exact model and I quote someone who bought it in Australia.

For second time, left ear piece not working. Very disappointing. Expect better given price.

@dazza826: The most recent of these posts is 8 years old. This model is from 2019. Respect that a thin, single core cable may be of some concern, but cables will fail on IEMs over time for various reasons. You also manage to find a mere handful of people running into issues, others seem to be struggling with fitment, and then the rare dud driver.

Stropping around and throwing negs on everything I write because I'm critical of your singular experience without a thought to solutions and occurrence rates is just dumb. Please stop.

Plenty of amazing quality in ear phones on Ali Express for 1/3rd of this price.

I've heard some of them, and they are not at the quality level of these. The chi-fi competitors are the Moondrop Starfield, which are the same price during an AliE sale (after cashback and coupons).

The BLON BL-03 (which I assume you are referencing) are great, but they have bass bloat that can creep into tracks, and they can lack some clarity while missing a fair chunk of detail in the upper treble because they roll off hard. They have been superseded by the BLON BL-05 S, which corrects the bass bloat and tweaks the mids a little more favourably. They are definitely great value, but they are very much on the same value curve as the ER2XR and the Starfield.

Likewise, you can step up again to the Tin Audio T2 Plus (not the T2 Pro) and get that treble detail back at the expense of a little bass and the odd treble peak.

The Starfield extends ahead through enormous amounts of detail and clarity from bass through to treble while maintaining the superb timbre of the aforementioned single DD sets, with a great bass kick and a smooth treble experience that extends really well. Its bass is a touch less detailed than the rest of the FR curve, but it is a beautiful, expansive sound that you can listen to for hours.

All of these IEMs suck with the stock tips though, save for maybe the T2 Plus, and all use the same style of dynamic driver save for the Etymotic.

Outside of that, you can dabble in a more open sound with old-school style earbuds, with some good picks being the NiceHCK DIY 2019 MX500 (MX500 shell listing, no the PK1 ones), the Yincrow X6 and the Yincrow RW-9.

But at this price, with this return policy, you should absolutely be trying the ER2XR. Happy hunting!

      • How did you guess I was talking about blon lol. 👍 They do the job for me.

      • Yoi obviously know your stuff.. You have tried more than i have from the sounds.
