Mate I wish amazon sold more stuff

They do in the Us but we only get a fraction of what they sell

I'm reluctant to order soft drink cans again after last time…. Some leaked, dented and the box failed making a greater mess…. So I guess thats one thing….Also they had low expiry dates….

I bought six bottles of cordial because they were a bargain. The box was ripped and one of the bottles was leaking on the driveway. Thankfully, it was sugar free cordial. Anyway, one phone call to Amazon and they were instantly offering to refund the whole order. I told them, everything was fine except for that one leaking bottle and they promptly refunded me that one and gave me $5 credit as well.

I had a cube a coke where one can exploded while in Ausposts care. It was a little sticky and took 5-10 minutes to wash and dry in the sink.

      Amazon customer service
-sent a new cube of coke
      -extra $5 credit
-the parcel was delayed one day (cause it was wet/leaky) it didn’t meet the guaranteed delivery date so I also got a month extension to prime

    a car, house, land, etc

Liquids in glass bottles. I’ve stopped ordering items like that from Amazon because I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve come home to find the delivery driver has smashed it all over the front steps.

Reminds me of when i ordered a PC and I saw the StarTrack driver throwing packages inside his van. No wonder I had to send mine back because it was broken due to courier abuse…

    • +2

I had a driver from Couriers Please throw a parcel from inside his van to my doorstep :(

      • +3

Same thing happened with my driver. His too lazy to walk up 3 steps so he just uses the package as a frisbee and throws it at my window while I watch on my Ring doorbell.

My camera caught a driver pull up across the other side of the road, he got out and looked at the fence on the property opposite me across the road, then drove off. I get an email or whatever saying there was "no access" and to pick it up at the post office. It was just toilet paper so I just let it sit at the post office for two weeks and I guess they sent it back. I'm not lining up to pick up $8 toilet paper like it was a damn ration.

I bought a bottle of something the other day and it was packed so well I reckon the driver could have kicked it down the driveway and it would have been fine.
It had 3 layers of bubble wrap and tape, then inserted in to one of those air column bottle cushion bags and tape, then had the amazon air packaging wrapped around the outside of that and then extra air packets jammed in to the box so that it wouldn’t move around.

contact amazon, i did when a can got busted they refunded me fully, so i essentially got 30+ cans from the 36 pack for free haha.

      • Oh I got refunds, that’s not the issue. It when I wanted the particular item or it was a bargain and the price has gone up that was the problem. I managed to call and have one particular item reshaped, but they won’t always do that and you need to get a friendly CS person.

Cheap USB C Docks and Amazon Alexa Devices.
Tried a few cheap docks only to find my USB and SD cards corrupted.
Amazon Alexa uploads too much data when compared to Google Home. In one month Alexa uploaded over 4gb of data while Google uploaded 400mb. I also find Alexa to activate more often and isn't as honest with its data privacy as my topic of conversations correlate with LinkedIn searches.

    • Wow, that's amazing — both how much data Alexa uploads vs Google, and your patience in tracking these. Genuinely curious how much data a (quite possibly less capable) Apple HomePod would hoover up?

  • From Amazon itself and not a marketplace seller? Probably nothing. Even marketplace sellers probably nothing if I believed it was genuine. I do buy my Apple chargers straight from Apple or a trusted local reseller like Officeworks, so I suppose I don't trust Amazon marketplace for Apple branded chargers. I would buy from Amazon though, it'd be pretty hard to fake a genuine charger and get away with it. The packaging alone is hard to clone.

  • I buy almost everything I can from Amazon or at least Fulfilled by Amazon. I have had well over 1,000 orders from them over a decade (here and UK).

I would never buy anything from Amazon Marketplace, period. Not desperate enough for anything to warrant that hassle.

Memory cards or anything else that is commonly fake.

Although really I wouldn't buy anything, Jeff bezos is horrible and Amazon is a scumbag company and I don't want to support that

Those who neg voted - do you know how they treat employees in the US?

      • +2

They should know. It's not like Amazon's evil is a secret. Even South Park has an episode about Amazon's conduct.

I've been looking at Amazon for groceries and so far have not found anything that is cheaper than Aldi (atleast from the items I buy regularly) - so I don't know what there is to buy from Amazon. What grocery items are people buying?

    • So far, in terms of grocery items, it's been cans of soda, cordial, and gum. Haven't seen any others just yet.

    • +2

If Aldi delivered then I'd consider. Not having to go into an Aldi ever again would be a huge motivator for me to start shopping at Aldi. If Amazon made us get to their warehouses to pick up stuff I wouldn't buy from them either.

    • Chips, coffee pods, Nesquik, flavour syrups, instant noodles, passata - all of these have been cheapest at Amazon.

  • Vinyl records. They must sit in hot warehouses. Every record I've received has been badly warped.

50 years in any warehouse will do that..

  • Is this another school/uni assignment post? 🤔

    • Nope

Way too old for that shit

  • Pasta sauces in glass jars. Arrived broken and leaking

  • Not that I wouldn't buy but order anything in cans and expect them to arrive all dented up.
Looking at the comments, guess it's in line with those that have ordered stuff in jars and received them broken.
So far haven't had any cans that have leaked, closest was a Coke can that looked like it was about to explode with its base inverted.

Third party items from new sellers with bargain prices.

On the fence if I’d buy shoes again, a pair that I bought for a relative -same version they always use for work seemed to not last as long as direct from new balance. And admittedly I won’t know how to check if they were genuine or not.

  • For most things I buy online, eBay is cheaper. As a result, I rarely use Amazon. So, there's very little that I would buy from Amazon, because of the prices.

    • There are things you aren't certain that's going to work or not, for the ease of return, buy/validate with the Amazon product, if it works then return it to Amazon and order something cheaper off eBay or if it doesn't work, return it to Amazon anyway.

      • +1

I have never and would never buy a product just to try it and then return it if I didn't like it.

        • Second that. Too much wasted time and resources for you and seller and society.

  • +1

Amazon might be my other option since I've stopped buying stuffs from eBay which uses the appalling Aust Post delivery services.

    • I've had no issues with Auspost since I started using their parcl locker. I walk down to the shops, get my new toys, do my little pookie dance, walk home.

  • +2

Probably won't be buying any more overseas Amazon orders anymore after today's stuffup…

I got sent the wrong items (from Amazon UK) so now i have to return the items and wait for them to arrive at the returns centre (in UK!) for a bloody refund. This is after waiting weeks and weeks for it to even arrive (thanks Aus Post). So now I have to re buy the items at a higher price locally. But hey, at least I got a cool $20 voucher I can only use on Amazon AU items…that won't even cover the price increase of the item if I were to buy it again, not that it's available through AU.

    Ugh
