got me excited for a sec, thought was turbine copper, they wouldn't ship to australia last time when the copper was on sale.
    anyways pretty decent price.
Edit: just checked, copper is on sale for 229 and do ship to Aus, if u think of getting this, copper is the one to go for~

    • +1 for copper. I own one.

    Lulz.

185 for a pair of in-ear earphones? Gotta be kidding me. If anyone is "that" serious about audio quality they would be using headphones. Also the "monster" brand name speaks for itself, flashy design but not a true audiophile product. A clear continuation of their history of selling overpriced tv cables etc.

    • lol monster is not equal to beats by dre, beats by dre ran by monster ltd. monster makes good earphones, really decent high ends, please do your research
custom IEMs from UE, westone, JH etc are over 1k
as for the audio quality, u can hear some missing details with IEM (such as ER4p/s/b) which you won't be able to with headphones. and if you have a pair of HD800, how much you need to spend on the equipments to drive it lol

Most of what you said made no sense to me because of your poor sentence structure. However, you seem to know that Monster produces Beats headphones, which everyone knows are overpriced.

In any case, this deal could be worth something to someone, but you're far better off buying from a real headphone brand, like Sennheiser or Shure.

      • +1

Huh, how are they not equal? As you say, beats are made by monster, and monster are made by monster.

Perhaps the beats earphones are designed differently to cater for the different market, and thus do sound worse (e.g. by a excessive focus on bass (just for example, I have no evidence that this is the case)). However, the fact remains that the same company and thus the same technology and design presumably makes its way into both products.

I am not saying that they are necessarily shit. Only that they are poor value for money. It is a part of Monster's strategy (with both products) to be extremely overpriced. The only difference is that Monster justifies the value of Monster products by false advertising and imaginary/useless technologies whereas Beats products depend more on the marketing and the connection with famous musicians (although also the technologies to some extent, but most sheep don't care about that).

I'm sure Monster earphones are "usable" and most look at least decent, but at the end of the day you cannot justify the quality of the audio without independent (and reliable) testing and proven technology behind the product.

Yea, would you buy a pair of IE7 by sennheiser or a turbine copper? they are around same price mark
i would definitely get turbine copper lol
sennheiser can sell at high price and no one said they are over priced

    • +3

Mate to each his own and people do spend tons of money on different things on the basis of their "needs" or some simply want it and have the cash.

There is big difference in audio quality with cheapies and better quality more high end products but there is also IMO a diminishing return factor and paying more does not necessarily mean better either.

I personally would not buy monster for great audio instead id go for ultimate ears, shure, westone, seinheiser etc. And for that price id grab a double or triple driver model.

      • +1

BA earphones are not necessary better than dynamic drivers, u are implying se535, w3/4 is better than ex1000 & ie8? lol

agree with "diminishing return factor and paying more does not necessarily mean better either"
but ppl would spend on the things they love, i have a couple of friends, he spent most of his money on audio equipments or some on lens, and still using a crappy 10 bucks phone.

Other ppl might do the opposite, buying a iphone and a 10 bucks earphone, would you consider them as the wiser ones?

        depends on the preferences mate

    • Depends what you need. I personally have a pair of IEMs (W3s) for daily travel. For home use, I have a pair of Ultrasone Pro 900s.

      • oh man if only I wasn't stingy and had money to buy the ultrasone pro 900 but $600 for headphones is too much for me

        • that ain't stingy, i doubt most people could afford to shell out 600 for headphones !

    • +1

I've spent more…about $250 or $280 or whatever on some ultimate ears. Also one of the best investments I've made….they've lasted 6 or so years so they've well and truely gone the mile. Features like the removable cable also mean when mine failed I just swapped the cable for about $20. Previous to that I had some Sony ones that cost about $90 and lasted all of about 12 months. Sweat and the like destroyed the cables in those things.

Headphones are great and all, but they aren't that suited to users on the go. Also beyond the size canal phones are quite effective at blocking out external noise, something many good headphones aren't going to do (at least the open variant). In any regard, I have a pair or two of headphones as well for use at home and work.

As for these though, can't say I'd go with them. EVerything I've read suggests Monsters are quite overpriced for what you get. I'd probably go the $199 pairs of Ultimate Ears Tripple.Fi 10's that logitechshop.com.au have on sale at the moment if thats the sort of price range you are looking at.

    • do more research before making a stupid comment !

  • Very good price. Was looking at these before I went with the Westone 3s.

    • Try the copper instead. They are awesome at the current price on amazon.

Y add a mic in a set of gd ear phones. dun get it. expect ppl to use it on iphones??? Tats a overkill for sure.

    • -1

to make money lol? if u look up akg K3003, it's priced around 1500 dollars and it has a mic lol

    • I wouldn't say its overkill…I use my Ultimate Ear earphones which back when I bought them cost more than these with my iPhone. That said, I wouldn't want a mic in a good quality set of earphones. Just one additional point of failure in my eyes.

  • This is from Monster, the same company that sells HDMI cables for $400?

    Is it even balanced armature?

    • +1

nah, dynamic and I couldn't even find what drivers but i'd assume 8.5mm.

For this price you'd be better off with some Fischer Audio DBA-02, some customs Kozee Sound X1(recommended) , RE262 or VSonic GR07.

Basically read this IEM review and buy(http://www.head-fi.org/t/478568/multi-iem-review-205-iems-co…)

    • The same company that put a HDMI display next to a composite display and said "Look at the difference between Monster HDMI and other brand HDMI"

  • +1

LOL I like how the advertise it as "Audiophile" - smooth.

    • +2

yes for HDMI cables, no difference really since its a digital signal.

Having listened to some really good headphones/earphones, I can definitely say that earphones/headphones make a world of difference in the clarity, crispness and elasticity of the sound. Good headphones don't buzz on high volume and you can hear sounds you wouldn't hear with stock apple earbuds

    • +2

a 5k second-hand Toyota is good enough, why on earth would you want to pay 200k+ for a mercedes
a $10 nokia phone is good enough it makes phone calls, why on earth would you want to pay 800+ for an iphone
      ……………
      ………..
      ……..
      …..

      • +4

a $5 hooker is good enough, why on earth would you want a $1000 one
        oh wait
        ……..
        …..
        ..
        .
        :)

        • +6

But for the same price as 1 $1000 hooker, you could get 200 $5 hookers! Bargain!

        • @Viggenn: that's the type of bargain that most people will pass *.^

    • +2

If you can't tell the difference between a $5 set of earphones and a good $100+ pair then something is wrong with your hearing. HDMI cables is one matter, but there is a huge perceivable difference between cheap earphones and good ones. Admittedly, at a point the returns become diminishing but it's well well beyond the $10 mark.

I can live with $10 for a HDMI cable, generally they work just fine.

    • there's always stupid comment !

  • I was also looking at these before i grabbed the Westone 3s. Pretty good earphones for the price.

oswade I'll be looking for you on the train with the satellite dish audiophile headphones on your head. For most of us, earphones are great for commuting to and from work.

    • also look for a fiio portable amp attached to the headphones, possibly a fiio E7

      • Also, e6 is a bit more portable if you don't need a USB DAC.
