Overpriced. They have not aged well. And that's being incredibly kind.

    • In your opinion. You also don't like Indies and only like AAA games which will also probably age poorly. It's all perspective and you shouldn't force your opinions so objectively.

I had good fun playing through Turok again on PC. I think it's held up well.

Not sure on Ep1 Racer, something like Extreme-G would be more appealing to me.

      • My bad. Got the username mixed up with first in line

        Apologies!

    • I liked the Turok 2 Remaster for PC.

The original game never ran properly on an N64 even with the Expansion Pak; the frames-per-second would constantly dip into slideshow territory anytime you faced more than two enemies on-screen or had multiple explosions happening so it became more-and-more impossible to complete the further you got into the campaign.

It feels like a completely different beast when it runs at a solid 60 FPS with re-tweaked AI.

The faster-paced, 90s-style gun play and incredibly fast-moving enemies lurking behind every blind corner makes it feel like dinosaur-themed Quake. Plus it's still bloody challenging and a lot of the secrets you have to find feel more like puzzles to solve.

The atmosphere is also still fittingly dark and the violence, dismemberment, death animations and physics are unbelievably good for a circa 1998 title.

Turok 2 along with Perfect Dark and the The World Is Not Enough really pushed the N64 to the absolute edge of its capabilities.

Star Wars Episode I: Racer on the other hand has not been properly remastered for the PC as the control scheme just does not work on either keyboard/mouse or a gamepad; that game was really designed for the N64 controller and it's a damn shame because it was one of the best titles on that console.

Episode 1 Racer holds up really well on the Switch controller. Such a dream to play at the high frame rate.

Such a shame we'll probably never see goldeneye released :(

  • Thanks Op. I grabbed Pod Racer. Can’t wait to bargain with Watto
