there are strings attached users need to have a hosted account with you!

hmm think you need to review your deals, none of them seemed to do that well in the past…

You do not need to have web hosting with Web24 to take advantage of the Free SSL offer. No Strings attached.

      wow, sorry about that!

it threw me when i read:

"So for a short time we are giving away FREE RapidSSL Certicates to new and existing customers"

IE you'd have to be buying something to get it to become a customer…

      • I do apologise for the confusion :)

Thanks guys. Haven't really played around much with SSL. At least this will let me try it out.

  • No problem Gish enjoy the new SSL :)

    Thank you!!!

  • Hi,

Is there a time limit on this - quite keen to get one, but would be easier for me to set up at home rather than at work - will it still be around tonight?

    Cheers

    Kevin

  • Hi Kevin,

The promotion should still be running this evening/tonight. So you will have a chance to get your free SSL or SSL's :)

  • Can we transfer/cancel the SSL after the 1st year?

  • My server is running IIS6. Am I missing something or is there no option for that?

  • I'm generating a CSR from Cpanel/WHM 11.30.4 (build 6)

and getting this when pasting into the form:

The following fields are not filled out correctly:
    - Bits should be one of: 2048 (in CSR file)

  • homersyd - Yes you can cancel the SSL after the 1st year we do not lock you in to any contracts. This is a real freebie.

      Nice one, thanks!

ok generating form cpanel doesn't seem to be compliant.
If you generate from WHM bit size can be chosen and it will work

  • GaelicAU - You can select "other" if it is not listed.

    Neat Thx !

Don't have any use for it, won't be signing up for one, but free stuff and good support deserves a +'ve!

Thank you for the great feed back on this promotion :)

Might have to have a look, got a few people who would be better off with an actual SSL cert.

    • Great the more the merrier. Customers are not limited to 1 either sign up to as many as you like until we run out of course :)

Great OP. Thanks. Who says nothing is ever free?

BTW - How long will it take to move the request from 'pending' to 'active'?

    • Once you have placed your order you will receive a verification order from Geotrust within 5 minutes. Once you have completed the verification step the certificate should be delivered within 1 hour. The subscription status will update on a 3 hourly basis.

How long will you have this offer for?

I've been using StartSSL for a while now, they offer free SSL certificates with free renewals too.

    • +2

      Hi Daniel,

The offer has only been available today. The renewals for the SSL's that we are offering are not free if you wanted to continue after 1 year all you would have to pay is the yearly price. You are also not locked into contact so if you are not satisfied after 1 year you are not obligated to stay.

can't see much diff between RapidSSL and StartSSL. myself use StartSSL for years, the only downside is that you need to pay for SSL revoke when you make mistakes with the cert.

    • +2

Yeah, StartSSL is definitely the way to go, their certificates are free always, not just as a promotion.

Their class 2 and EV certificates are great value too :)
