looks like a good deal. Payback time should be well within warranty terms for most people

    • +2

Payback time is always within warranty terms these days. Even with a 6.6kW system you should expect a ~2 years payback time. My 5kW inverter is happily pumping out 5.07kW (I know, but tolerances…) as I write this.

      • That's fantastic. You looking at batteries yet?

        • No, they don't make any financial sense yet as they are expensive and FITs are not too bad. At least for my use case (residential, working from home so making use of daylight).

Is there a price to upgrade to Fronius 8.2-1 with 5kw export control device?

    • Please email me for pricings

  • Can someone do a quick explain about 9.6kW panels, 8.5kW invertor but capped at 5kW?

Why? Why have 9.6 if capped at 5.

I am sure it’s logical but I know nothing about solar.

Energex will allow 5kw per phase to be fed back into their grid which means 5kw single phase and 15kw for 3 phase.

However Energex also allow an additional 5kw per phase at zero export.

This means (for example on single phase) you can be feeding 5kw back to the grid during the day while also running things in your home such as your Hot water system or pool from the additional 5kw capacity at zero export.

      • Thanks. Explained it well.

    • +1

Pretty Sure the 5kw cap is due to conforming to a typical single phase feed back to the grid, which is legally (for technical reasons) restricted to around this much input. To feed more than that back to the grid requires a 3 phase connection which a vast majority of people do not have by default.

The Reason i would guess for the inverter size is max bang for buck. Inverters are expensive, panels are cheap. With a 9.6kW system your probably only going to see generation above 8.5kw 5-10% of the time. So to maximise return for the dollar it tends to benifit to over panel.

      • There is about $400 difference between a 5kW and 10kW MS series Inverter at wholesale level. Many panels are neutral cost where STC’s near cover the panel cost.

We have an existing solar system.
Would replacing our old system with this new system, have an impact to pricing for rebates / credits etc?
What is the additional cost for a 3 phase system?

    • Hi

Happy to assist. Kindly email me for the exact pricings and rebate availabile for you to install the system.

  • I have a 3 phase power meter in my new house. What should I be getting to maximise this 3 phase pontential?

  • Hi Sid7827

How does the 10% continuous maximum AC output power overload work?

Does that mean 8.5kw inverter + 10% = 9.35 kw inverter as its continuous?

    Cheers
