Porting Number to Belong

Genuinely asking for a friend. I am a Belong customer and was given a bonus sim starter pack with $80 credit. My friend wishes to activate the sim in his mobile and port his number to Belong. Currently he is with Internode which uses part of the Optus network. However, he is concerned that he will lose his number if he subsequently cancels the Belong service. I assumed that he could just port his number from Belong to another service provider. I am hoping that Ozbargainers can help with advice because it takes days to get a response from Belong support.

      My friend is under the impression that there is a limit to the number of times a mobile number can be ported within a short period of time.

        Why would he want to port out soon after porting into Belong? Main benefit of Belong is all the free credit you get from referrals and timing when you activate etc so it still be free for a few months, plus extra data in the bank to be used gradually over time and can be on the $10/1GB plan even if you use more. If he ports out within a few days then it was a waste of time porting in.

          He has a free standing garage with a cellar from which he works. He has no mobile reception in the cellar with Internode (Optus wholesale network).
          My mobile (Belong on the Telstra wholesale network) has good reception in his cellar and that is why he wants to try my bonus Belong sim.
          He has a different mobile phone, so if it doesn't work out he will want to port his number to another network.
          Of course, he could buy the same phone as mine or join Telstra, Optus or Vodafone and use WiFi Calling with mesh.
          BTW, the $10 Belong plan is no longer available to new customers.

            Yes it is, you just have to be on one of the higher ones for one month then you can change to the $10 plan

    I tried porting my number to belong with free $80 credits that I got plus $20 refferal
    But at the end the order failed
    Now I’m retrying to activate and now it says sim card already has a pending order.
    Has anyone had this issue?

      Yup have exact issue last night. Logged a service request, and they responded by saying there is no port in request.

      Now that I know someone else has the same problem, A possibility is they changed the website interface and things for messed up for us

          Yeah I got an email in the afternoon asking for all the details and I manually sent them. How long did it take for you to port today after they contacted you?
