Hi all. A couple of great offers from Cashrewards. Both promos run until 11:59pm AEDT. Please stay safe, and enjoy :)

  • During the 11.5 hour promotional period, 50% cashback for Book Depository is capped at $10 in total per member account, irrespective of the number of transactions made. Valid 12:30pm to 11:59pm AEDT 27/10/2020.
  • During the 11.5 hour promotional period, 50% cashback for Etsy is capped at $10 in total per member account, irrespective of the number of transactions made. Valid 12:30pm to 11:59pm AEDT 27/10/2020.
  • Cashback is ineligible when using codes not listed on Cashrewards.
  • You must return and click through from Cashrewards every time you make a new transaction/purchase.

Ensure you disable 3rd party plugins and don't click away to other sites looking for codes etc after clicking from Cashrewards as tracking will be lost (feel free to try our recently updated mobile app). Don't forget to refer-a-friend for $15 each. Tip: add your code to OzB’s randomiser. And check out our Help Centre & Contact form here for any questions or issues.

  • don't click away to other sites looking for codes etc

I feel like this is directly targeting Honey.

    • +18

One of them, yes… Honey (and numerous others) are affiliates just like cashback sites. Unfortunately a lot of people don't realise that having the plugin/s active will attribute your purchase to them and not to any cashback site - they get commission for what you buy, we/you get zilch. Then we get complaints of "my purchase didn't track", and claims will be declined as stores will not pay commission to more than one publisher. This is why I felt it necessary to mention plugins. Honey in particular is a no-go zone if you want to make the most from cashback sites. Thanks.

      • +11

considering what you've described, Honey (and the likes) can be quite sneaky, especially if it just tests the codes they have as affiliates and don't work, they'll still earn affiliate commission but gives none to the plugin user.

        • +4

          Spot on.

      • is the Honey plugin worth downloading ?

        • +7

My wife told me how great it was last week after she saved more than $100 on Adidas!
I then asked her which code Honey had automatically entered into the checkout, and she recited to me the exact same code I'd already told her to use from Ozbargain!

        • +1

it is worth it to Ryan

        • +3

Yeah. It's worth having if Ozbargain doesn't show a code and you can't guess any. I have a separate browser with no plug ins I only use for cashrewards and shopback so have no tracking issues.

          • @JamesLucas: You know you can simply whitelist the websites, right?

            • +3

@KangaDrew: Separate browser seems fool proof, never had a tracking issue so far.

Thanks got a book i was holding out on!

  • +1

Crap, just bought a book yesterday and missed out on this

  • +1

Thanks OP. Grabbed a book I’d been thinking of getting.

  • +1

If anyone is after a book recommendation - the Judge Dredd graphic novels are fantastic.

    • World War Z is also an amazing read!

      • I’ve started reading it, about 1/2 way through. Not sure if I like it. I don’t really like how it jumps around from one place to another

  • Hi TA, can you please clarify this part:

irrespective of the number of transactions made.

That still means the overall cashback will be $10 even if you make multiple transactions that are over $20? Tia

    • +3

That's correct. The term is there for safety in case you want to go back and buy another book if you haven't hit the $10 cap on the previous one. Always click out of Cashrewards again for subsequent transactions to ensure tracking. Hope this helps :)

  • +1

Does this work with Book Depository pre-orders?

    • +2

It did for me. Confirmation email from Cashrewards:

This will now appear in your Cashrewards account as ‘Pending’.
Once Book Depository confirms your cashback, it will be added to your available rewards. This can take anywhere from one to 100 days.

  • Grabbed a book, now to hope it tracks!

  • Nice, thanks!

  • +1

Thanks! Received the tracking email in 7 minutes. :)

  • Thanks, got me a book I was wanting for a long time but which had never lowered it's price.

  • i still remember buying an osrs blue partyhat keychain from etsy for $40 haha. totally worth.

  • Last promotion they sent via email one was for T2 20% and the email said capped at $20, then when you click through it was actually $15.

Then they didn't track even though I ordered through the app, there was an "Unfortunately, T2 Tea has made us aware of an issue with order reporting during this period and your purchase may not have tracked to your Cashrewards account."

They asked me to "reply and ATTACH my order confirmation email" which I did, downloaded email as an EML and replied. No mention of format.

Then they say they can't open EMLs and I need to convert to PDF or JPG and send back.

Took all of 30 seconds to find and convert using an online EML to PDF converter.

Does Cashrewards have a history of creating hurdles for these special cashbacks?

Because this is what it seems like.

  • Totally random question for everyone, just wanted to know if have everyone here started to use Etsy, and if so how was the experience like?

    • I presume you mean for selling things, and not just buying?

One of my friends has just abandoned the platform due to increasing fees.

      • Thanks. What other platforms are there?

        Btw, I mean both sell/buy.

Anyone know if Book depository purchases results in a international transaction charge?

    I recall it's based in the UK…

    • +2

Yes for Westpac, no for Amex

      • +1

Thanks! Was going to use my Altitude but you've saved me that 3% 😆

        • You'll be fine if you use your Westpac Amex haha but definitely don't use your Westpac MasterCard!

      • +2

No for Macquarie Bank too I believe.

    • When I last bought one back in January I did get an international fee and then rebate with ING. Idk if that's for every book they have or not.

  • Hi TA, does cashback include delivery charges? I saw the T&Cs it doesn't but just want to confirm :)

    • +2

Hi. From what I can tell, shipping is free for Book Depository?

      • What about Etsy?

      • Hi TA, sorry should have mentioned ETSY

        • +1

I don’t believe so, but the only way we’ll know for sure is if someone acknowledges via a comment here. Sorry I can’t offer more than this.

  • +5

Can be a good deal but always check Amazon AU prices first because I often find Amazon prices cheaper than BookDepository even after 50% discount.

    • ^ 2nd this, I found Amazon cheaper than Book depository with all cashback/discounts used.

  • +1

Does anybody else get a blank web-page when trying to load the CashRewards website???

    • If you have a VPN active, please turn it off then do a hard refresh :)

      • No VPN active T.A. Any other ideas?

        • Discussing via PM.

  • @TA

Is this pre-order eligible for cashback or is the release date too far away?
    https://www.bookdepository.com/Even-Grouches-Wear-Masks-Sesa…

    • -3

Just type "Masks don't work" into youtube, start viewing, and save 100%.

  • +2

I compared prices of some books on Book Depository and Amazon AU and BD is already much more expensive.

  • -3

Don't forget to use "MASTERCARD5" for 5% off at checkout first!

    • +8

Please don't. The transaction will commission to Mastercard and not Cashrewards. Your cashback will either not track, or will later be declined. As per the OP:

Cashback is ineligible when using codes not listed on Cashrewards.

  • Hey TA, if we use 'Checkout with Paypal' on BD website, the txn will still be eligible for cashback.. right?

  • Can they be stacked with the targeted $10-30 bonus cashback?

  • I bought some crochet patterns I had my eye on. Hopefully it tracks. 🤔

  • Good deal. Is anyone still buying physical books though?

    • +3

Physical books have their own place mate and will always have. Also, they are much better for the teachers and school kids alike.

    • +1

I have a large ebook collection but if I really want to learn something I still buy physical books.

  • +1

    Hi TA

I am wondering if I spent the 20$ across the two sites, will that still qualify ?

    Thanks !

  • +1

Order tracked, hope the pre-order makes it through.

    Cheers TA!

  • Anything good on Etsy?

  • +3

I haven't shopped on BookDepository for a while, but there current prices are outrageous. They are all pretty much RRP - some even appear to be more than RRP.

    • True.. I had hard time finding books which had the same (or only slightly more) price on BD as that on Amazon to make the deal even worth it.

    • Completely agree, I have found Booktopia have now become more competitive with their prices.

  • +2

Etsy tracked within minutes. Perfect, thanks TA

  • Hi TA,

Would this work when buying from their uk site or does the txn has to be in AUD?

    Cheers

  • Referral link bugged out for the last ten mins (despite numerous attempts and ad-blocking extension free). Screenshot here.

Etsy click activity registered - let's see if it tracks. I'm not entirely convinced it will. :-|

  • Doesn't seem like my Book Depository order tracked.. anyone else?

    • Nope; mine tracked (not due to be shipped until February)

      • Thanks for responding. I've put in a "did not track" claim so hopefully they can look into it
