Shame the Matcha isn't on sale!

    • +4

I haven't seen the Matcha one in a really loooooong time (at least here in VIC). Think they've discontinued it?

      A shame really 😥

Edit: Apparently there's a petition to bring the Matcha back!

      https://www.change.org/p/connoisseur-bring-back-connoisseur-…

      • Back in Coles already.

        • +1

which state? don't see it in VIC

      • +4

One of 3 new flavours recently introduced.

It would seem the petition helped.

        • +1

Matcha flavour is only available at Coles it seems. But awesome news still!

      • +2

Yep confirmed - i bought 2 matcha tubs from coles on Saturday for 25% off $7.50 as soon as I saw it so will need to hand in my ozb licence

        • did it taste good?

          • @barozgain: From the last time they were making it - if you like other matcha things, safe bet you'll like it

          • +1

@barozgain: I tried Match one yesterday too. Seems like white chocolate was smaller than before and green tea taste was weaker too. Wish they removed white chocolate.

          • @barozgain: i actually like the green tea + white choc flavour - finished the 2 tubs quite easily

Time to clear out the freezer so i can stock up if matcha is back + half price

        Watcha?

    • Shame it doesn't include the new plant-based varieties 😥

      • Yeah I would love me some carrot flavored icecream for sure

      • Plant based are on sale at coles until midnight, 7 for the tub, 6 for the box. I bought the vanilla choc brownie to try out

Missing the days when ½ Price means $5 and includes the Matcha green tea flavour.

    • You miss the days when this was 50c cheaper at half price?

    • Missing the days half price was $4…

Everyone knows honey macadamia is the shiz

getting bored with this ice cream. anyone suggest a better than this ice cream please

    • +3

      None better in the supermarket.

    • Bubble O'Bill tubs

      • +2

Do these have gumballs in them? If not what's the point?

        • Nah bubblegum flavoured pieces. I haven't tried it personally though.

          • @Clear: No kid's going to be happy with that are they?

Hinterland is a new range from Norco (a dairy coop). I bought a tub of burnt butter and caramel for $7 (introductory price this week, ends tomorrow) and it's pretty good! Tastes like the butter in butter popcorn, and it is pretty sweet but it's creamy too.

But yeah I agree, the only one I buy is Cafe Grande. I've tried half the range and haven't liked any of the others as much as I do CG.

    • i think the aldi brand, indulge, is a lot better.

    • +6

Have you their stick based ones? The Sicilian blood orange ones are stupid good. Rarely on sale but I don't care anymore, can't go back

    • +1

      Yes Mochi.

      • i used to see mochi in ww, now they stopped, but coles took over the mochi now in their stores!

    • +1

Try the mangnum tubs, they are awesome!! My favourite is the chocolate ganache. So much chocolatey goodness….
Otherwise my other go-to for a simple flavour is Cadburys vanilla choc chip.

If you're really bored, try gelato for something completely different.

haagen dazs & Ben & Jerry's is better quality ice cream, despite the fact many on here will disagree as the tubs are more expensive and too small for their serving preferences and stomach sizes.

      • thanks ripped. agree I eat a tub in one sitting

      • I got Ben and Jerry's just now from the pizza hut deals. The actual ice cream itself is a step below the gourmet I was expecting (i.e. not a match for the cake batter ones you get at cold stone/cold rock) but the plmix in pieces are still delightful.
Still if rate connoisseur cookies and cream better overall.

      Reese peanut butter cones

      No need to thank me

    • +1

all my friends rave about haagen daz, in particular the strawberry and cream, I think? Something about it being really nice cream flavour/texture and the strawberry tasting like actual strawberry, not the fake pink stuff

    • +1

See if you can get "Lick" where you are. Usually at select IGA and Spar supermarkets. It's truly next level ice-cream. It's never on special though.

    Vote 1 IVANKA Trump 2024

  • my favorite, been a while seeing them less than $7. gonna restock. hope there are no covid limitations.

  • I go to my Woollies (it's across the road) when this is on special, all the Belgian Chocolate is gone and all the other flavours are still there. So I walk home crestfallen but know that at least my weight won't go up from eating too much ice cream :)

    • Not sure why you are negged, maybe from Belgian choc ice cream hater I guess :D I loved the Belgian chocolate, not too sweet, unbeatable aftertaste.

  • Damn, I long for the Peanut Butter & Pretzel "Bed Stuy" to make a comeback! 😋

  • Chocolate Brownie is always out of stock!

  • +2

I was upset when I read that the Connoisseur Madagascan vanilla didn’t actually contain vanilla.
So I tried the home brand vanilla one and it was actually really good! Actual vanilla in it.

    https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/693785/woo…

Will still have to get a chocolate Connoisseur at our next shop…

    • +1

Agreed, their homebrand Vanilla (now with red lid) is really good. Other ones are a bit meh, but they've nailed the vanilla one.

    • Yeah, it's vanilla bean flavour with actual vanilla beans in it. Seems silly, but many who claim to vanilla flavoured have no vanilla. I really like this flavour. The Coles version doesn't taste vanilla-beanie at all and is nowhere near as good.

      • +2

Yep. I find the vanilla seeds give an x-factor to the taste.

Vanilla is expensive. Manufacturers imitate it with artificial flavours to cut costs. Which is why it’s surprising that Connoisseur did that, while pretending to be a premium brand, and the “cheap” Woollies home brand one still has actual vanilla seeds. Not to mention that the label of the Connoisseur vanilla ice cream goes on and on about Madagascar and the top vanilla comes from there, etc. Yeah very interesting but no Madagascar vanilla inside!

  • We're going to need a bigger freezer

  • +1

Wish they'd bring back the nougat flavour.

  • +3

Recall around 4 yrs back, these were normally priced around $4 on specials. Just realized that's a 37.5% price increase in such a short span.
Wish my wages increased at that rate

  • So what I get from this, is that Connoisseur has now gone up to $11. Woh, when did that happen?

  • Sweet. literally.
