Any Way to Ensure I Sell Unwanted Launch-Day PS5 to Legitimate Buyer?

Hi! I preordered both a disc and digital version of the PS5 and was lucky to have them be a part of the launch shipment. At the time I wasn't sure which I wanted but now I know I don't want the digital version and am looking to sell to someone who wanted a PS5 but wasn't able to get one for launch day.

I want to sell for RRP but I'm worried a scalper will purchase it and just sell if for more (rather than what I intended as above).

Do you guys have any ideas as to how I don't sell to an intending scalper?

All of my close friends have been able to secure one so I can't sell to them.

      This is the answer, you could try and sell on Ozb as at least you can somewhat stalk people to see if they seem a bit suspect - but a bit of effort for no real gain.

      He/she is benevolently bestowing the gift of PS5. He/she has every right to question the worthiness of the recipient of such a privilege.

    You could post it at a mark-up, then when you get an interested buyer, offer it to them at retail. Less likely to get scalpers if it's already at a mark-up, and the person buying it wants it so badly they're willing to pay a silly cost. You both get to give them a nice surprise, and hopefully find a genuine buyer.

    If it doesn't sell, eventually just advertise it at RRP. They'll be out of stock for a while, so you should get a chance to recuperate your costs if you're not having any luck.

    I don't like the "it is what it is" approach above. You're trying to do the right thing and forego artificially driving up the price of a product. Good on you, and I hope you find a genuine buyer.

    Selling a pre-order instead of cancelling it is something dodgy, expect to deal with dodgy people. Are you not able to cancel for a full refund?

        Yeah I don't get it. Why would you want to purchase it and sell it at RRP? You take on the risk of selling, for nothing. Just cancel the order and get everything back for no risk.

    I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a digital version at RRP as I missed the first round of pre-orders.

    To answer your question, no way of knowing what they do with it Eg I sold one of my tickets to a guy outside the door and he scalped it for almost double lol.

    Just do a return or refund. Both JB and EBgames have no issues with this.

    I’m in a similar boat. Ebgames just confirmed my launch day shipment for the physical disc version so I want to cancel my Amazon first day shipment now (physical disc edition).

    So whoever is still on Amazon waitlist, you will go up one spot :)
