Got a Call Saying They Are Returning a Missed Call, but I Never Called

Just got a random phone call from someone who said they were returning a missed call from me. I never called this person but they said they'd missed a call from me a few seconds ago.

It got suss once they asked what my name was, that was when I ended the call. Next minute they tried calling again for half a minute, I did not pick up.

Not long after the call, they sent a text to me saying that they've reported my name to the police and think I'm a scammer.

I'm not bothered about them turning my number to the cops (I have a call history as proof) but I'm more so worried that the caller is the scammer and has recorded my voice and will use it for malicious acts.

Has anyone else come across this recently?

        I'm not sure there's anything you can do. You could send the person a text saying you think your number was spoofed. If you care what this random person thinks of you :-p

    Does their text have a return number, just block it and keep a copy just in case

      Yes, have their caller ID and taken screenshots of call history + text they sent me afterwards.

    same thing happened to me. I was received a missed call and I called back and the person on the phone said that they never called me, really strange. This happened on Monday 26th too…
