The greatest television drama of all time.

(Warning though, a lot of reviews on Amazon mention that the packaging for this set is pretty bad and scratches the discs).

It really is. Put in the effort to watch this and your prior thoughts on how a TV show should be created will be changed for ever.

Also, I've had this set for a couple of years now, & my discs are perfect, but I can understand what they are saying - just don't be agressive with you DVDs and you should be right to go.

PS. Thanks for the + :)

    • +1

I totally agree. And every season is genius which a lot of shows, even other really great shows, can't manage to maintain. Amazing that you can get 23 discs of one of the greatest shows of all time for so cheap (although maybe cheaper elsewhere or during buy 2 get 1 sales, etc)

    • Absolutely, I could not tear myself away from the TV and I dont usually watch TV/DVDs

  • +4

I'm gonna have to go against this.

$20 a season at JB - they'll have the 3 for 2 again soon enough.

So $80 will get you all 5 seasons plus a season of something else (I recommend Community).

Only about $65 Delivered from Amazon UK:

UK Have better packaging and its a 24 Disc Set

    • +3

The UK version has PAL speedup though, so I'd rather take a chance with the poor packaging.

      • +2

Finally someone else on here recognises the annoyance of speedup. I think its about time I bought this series. Thanks for the deal!

  • +2

Amazon have had this deal cheaper in the past. $80 is still not too bad though. I bought this package back in July/August of this year for $71 Delivered. Fantastic show and I recommend it.

    • +1

Agreed, good show. One of the best made in recent times

    • Last time, it was US$72.49, so $1.50 more expensive.

  • +1

JB Hifi also have had the same box set for $79 in the past, and if you can wait for one of their 20% off sales, you can pick it up for approx $63.00.

    • Yeh apparently its only $79.99 regular price at Sanity also

  • I got this cheaper during the JB 2 for 3 sale which they regularly hold and I didn't have to worry about playablitly as it was local - no deal

    • Is that deal on at the moment? Didn't think so.

      • +3

Maybe not but they regularly have it on not only that but as can be seen from the comments above other places have it cheaper eg Sanity and Amazon themselves have had it cheaper in the past, so what in the world makes this a good deal other than the fact thats its an awesome show

        • "so what in the world makes this a good deal other than the fact thats its an awesome show"

Being the best price that is currently available.

        • But it's not the current best price…

        • Burned.

        • -2

This is the best price currently for a region 1 copy, which as I mentioned above, doesn't have PAL speedup (i.e. everyone sounds like chipmunks), unlike local copies.

        • Exaggeration much? There is some, but not that much difference in sound quality.

So your saying that for every movie/tv title, we should have a post for the US version and PAL version, and their prices shouldn't be compared to each other to evaluate their value?

          Get real..

        • What I'm saying is that (1) this is a better product than the version you can buy locally, (2) it is at a comparable price to the best current local deal posted here (only $3 difference), and (3) this is the current best price for this (much better) version of the product.

If accurate sound is not worth $3 to you personally, that's your choice. All I'm saying is I don't think it's worth negging for that.

  • So annoyed that they haven't released it in Blu Ray…!

    Great show though.

    • It's 4:3, I don't see it ever coming to blu-ray.

      • The question is what was it filmed at

        • It was was shot at 4:3 on 35mm. Which leads me to believe they will bring it out on Blu-Ray eventually. It would be a great upgrade over the DVDs, which have evidence of alot compression artifacts.
