Castrol Garden 4T 4 Stroke Engine Oil SAE 30 1 Litre $4 + $5 Shipping @ Supercheap Auto

100

Super cheap SAE30 4 stroke oil. Perfect for the petrol line trimmer or lawn mower.

Clearance item, so unsure how many in stock or how long it'll last.

After 10 bottles shipping goes from $5 to $10 so the best value would be to get 10 bottles for $45 = 1L for $4.5 delivered!

Seems to be cheapest even if you buy 1 bottle for $9 delivered!

Get it before it's ozbargained!

  • I've had my mower about 10 years and never changed the oil lol :(

    • wait, what? lol. you've never changed the brand? is it even petrol if you haven't changed the Oil?

      • +1

It's petrol alright, fill that up regularly just never changed the oil. It was only a cheap mower so didn't expect much but it's still going strong!

that's insane! I'm worried and impressed at the same time.

          • @cheapass88: Lol yes it has to seize eventually right? Then a good excuse to buy a new one :)

            • @iShibby: What's the brand & model of lawnmower?

@Wally: It’s a victa I think, had it for years so not sure

See this is why I reckon the old petrol mowers are more environmentally friendly than battery powered ones. They're cheap off gumtree and they just last. 10 years with zero maintenance is impressive. It's still going strong. Imagine how long it'd last if you looked after it a bit more too. Probably 40 years? whereas the batteries in the new ones are probably in need of replacing after 5 years or something depending on how you store them and use them etc. Then buying a replacement battery costs more than buying 2 more petrol mowers off gumtree lol. And the body in a lot of the "modern" battery ones are plastic and clearly won't last a generation like the old ones easily can.

  • Anyone have any tips on cleaning the underside of a petrol mower without the oil pouring into the wrong places causing smoke to pour out when I try to start it again?

    • +3

Just make sure the air filter/carb is always the highest point and it should be fine

      • Makes sense thanks mate

I spike one of these down on the lawn https://media.bunnings.com.au/Product-800x800/a23f6a05-0007-… and raise the mower and let it sit there for a few minutes with the motor and water running.
Use at your own risk failing to fasten down properly will make a loud noise scare the shit out of you and force you to curse and swear.

    • Over the years, you probably have changed the oil by topping up after it's poured out of the carb & filter

      • Never topped it up mate

  • $13 in bunnings for valvoline..can buy when you need

    • But $9 < $13 and this is OzBargain after all

      • Ya but lot of ozbargained stuff still in garage :)

All I need is a deal for a shed and I'll be good, can fit more then :)

  • How often we need oil change in mover?

    • I've never changed mine. Probably should check the oil level, can we just top up without changing?

    • +1

My "mover" gets lubricated with a slab of beer………the mower however gets changed every year ;-)

  • I've read you can use leftover 5w30 synthetic instead?
