I don't want a debit card as I've to pay account keeping fees.

currently, I've.

  1. NAB account as it doesn't charges account keeping fees, all random ATO, dividend, cashback comes here, saves from churning.
  2. home loan with CBA.
  3. HSBC 2% cashback.
  4. ING - I want to close it, don't want to pay account keeping fees.

Do you really need a credit card? If you're only after the zero international transaction fee, there are other debit card options.

  • +1

I have both and a Citibank debit card that has zero fees on int. transactions.

Bankwest lets you bpay the balance without any fees but the 28deg card does not. Apart from that no difference.

    • To clarify: you can pay the 28 degrees without fees - just not by Bpay.
It is a bit of a PITA - but easily doable.

      • Oh yeah I don't really have an issue with it but it's the only real difference between the cards.

I believe I have this card, as I used it for ATMs around Europe.

I'm about to cancel my ANZ travel credit card, so I was looking for another card with no international fees and I didn't think of using this debit card because I haven't used it in years.

Thanks for the reminder, it should tie me over till I find a replacement credit card.

  • Look up the PDS yourself but there is almost no good benefit these days for new 28 Degrees users. Bankwest is basically useless as well but least it is user friendly.

    • This puzzles me.

Would you care to elaborate a bit further and enlighten us to your wisdom.

Analysing pages of a PDS with having no idea of what you are searching for isnt that exciting. Let alone two different ones. 😀

      • No cash back on price drop is hugeeee.

But for me, I usually can find things cheaper if I'm patient. For others they prefer to buy now enjoy, and get whatever difference back as a bonus.

  • I like the citibank global debit card. its good for cash conversion for ATM withdrawal.

    • Haven’t actually tried it before. Are the rates as good as the money changers here in Australia? You need to use a citi atm yeah?

      • +1

Decent rates. Comparable to money changers in Aus and updates every 10 seconds. You can use any ATM in Europe. Most from the big banks do not charge ATM withdrawal fee because you are withdrawing in the local currency. Downside is that it only have the major currency (i.e., no Danish Krones).

Bankwest Zero Platinum Mastercard for free travel insurance

    • +1

The free travel insurance is pretty rubbish these days, they downgraded the coverage last year. Do your research before relying on it and make sure it covers you for what you need

  • Can’t speak about latitude, but for Bankwest platinum it is very easy to apply in store (higher chance they won’t reject you). It’s just a good card to keep fee free for life.

Anyone knows if you are currently unemployed but applied for a credit card when employed, you can still keep the card? Do u need to inform the bank of the change in financial circumstances?

    • Once you have it as long as you pay the bills they don't care.
