Pram Recommendations Uppababy/Babybee

Hey guys
We're expecting our first and as a couple we decided that a pram was something worth buying quality as the wife does a lot of walking for fitness etc.
She's found the uppababy vista 2 for $1600 and the baby bee duo for $800.
The uppababy was $1100 through nordstrom in August but we missed it.

Does anyone have any experience with these 2 or have recommendations for anything else?
Definitely looking for something that we can add a 2nd seat to later.

Cheers.

Science teacher.

Hello, we’ve had the Uppababy Cruz (the single version of the Vista) for about a year. My review is here if that might help: https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/2d66863a-5df0-4435-…

    • Thanks. Where did you purchase from?

We bought it at a baby expo (https://www.pbcexpo.com.au/promo/pbc-shop-landing-page) from Coolkidz which is the Uppababy distributor. Was maybe 1/4 off RRP, would have been more if bought an ex-demo model (we got there too late in the day).

        • Thanks, looks like their next one is Feb. We'll keep an eye out.

    • Great review. What do you think for shorter people like 150-170cm, would it be too tall?

  • I’ve had an Alta (what Cruz used to be called) that’s seen 6 years straight use over 2 kids they are built to last. Shopping basket size is great. Only tip I’d offer is best to get all your accessories when you buy it (meal table, handlebar etc) since they can be hard to source when the newer models come out.

    • Thanks fallout

  • We just had a look at prams physically in store on the weekend after online research.

I was looking at Nuna and Cybex. Was shown the Bugaboo Fox 2 and it's now in the lead of our preferences.

Nuna was a super easy fold but not smooth to push. I really love Cybex as the materials are very luxurious, however it is 1.5-2kg heavier.

Bugaboo was impressive. The smoothest out of the three, lightweight and once you figure out the clicks, it's not bad. You could look at the Donkey as that turns into 2.

    • Thanks bottom dollar. I'll look at those with the wife

  • I have a City Select Lux. It is a tank though, easy enough to fold but heavy. Rolls smoothly with 4 wheels, big basket. It is harder for me to find 2nd hand add-ons in FB/Gumtree as apparently the normal version won't suit. But has plenty of configurations for 2 seat options (no side to side). Expecting 2nd bub in Jan so can't wait to give the double seating a go :D

Got it for around $6xx on Dec 18 Amazon but cheapest I've seen it go to was $592 last year (rrp $1200 ish)

I've got the older version of the vista, the V2 had just come out and I got it for $1200 from Coolkidz (the distributer online) and all the retailers said there was very little difference between them other than the V2 has an extra bit of suspension somewhere apparently and a few cosmetic changes. Baby is now just over 5 months old and it was the best money we spent.

I walk weekly at Kuitpo on forestry tracks and at Belair National Park and haven't had any issues with it on rougher ground, bubs gets a bounced around a bit obviously but he still falls asleep so it's not too bad. On smooth ground it pushes around super easy and everyone who has pushed it are amazed at how easy it is to move around. I happily walk 5km+ on sealed paths and I have never had sore arms or shoulders! The under basket is huge - I haven't driven to the supermarket since I've had it.

The bassinet was a godsend as bubs hated the sleeper we bought for him, so he did the first three months sleeping in that. They say the seat is for 6 months+ but I found at about 16 weeks he was too big for the bassinet and he had to go into the seat. He also has FOMO and would just scream because he wanted to see what was going on… On the plus side, the way the bassinet has the button to remove it from the pram on top of the handle, where as some of them are on the side which I think is just awkward. From what I could tell pretty much every pram you have to remove the bassinet to fold them, so depending on how much you have to fold it, that could be annoying! We never bothered with the capsule/travel system as with Covid there was no point because we weren't out and about as much. Only once have I ever gone to a couple of different places when bubs was sleepy and it would have been handy instead of waking the poor thing every time I needed to move him.

The downside it is quite big when folded. I have a Prado so it doesn't matter so much, but if you have a small car it would be something to consider. If you are a "drive everywhere" sort of person, then this isn't the pram for you as it's quilt bulky and with the seat on it's quite heavy. I had a C-section so I couldn't lift it - even just the frame until about 6 weeks, but now even with the seat on it's not too bad (about 12-13kg I think), especially now the mum guns have developed!! You also can't fold it with the seat facing you, so at the moment I have to flip the seat as I prefer bubs facing me. When I've had the car packed to go away I've taken the seat and wheels off - they come on and off with one button so it's not much hard work to do and just gives you a bit more space for all the other crap you travel with when you have a baby and a dog!

Any specific questions you have - happy to answer :).
