Amazing price for an amazing game. Up there with other RPG classics for me.

  • Just bought physical for $50 zzz

    • Can't return it?

    • I brought this yesterday. I didn't know that it was such a good game. I only went for the bargain at 83% off

  • +2

Ok I've been stopping myself from buying this until now as I had it on ps3 back in the day but $15 is insane for the quality of game you have here.

    • Considering sell my physical copy and picking this up

  • +1

Is it the original one? I tried to play the second one but didn’t have the drive to finish it. Read the reviews saying the first one is much better, is this what everyone thinks as well?

    • +2

      Yes, #1

    • Yeah, 2 was probably the most disappointed I have ever been in a video game before, number 1 is great, just a bit grindy at times.

      • Is it because of the combat gameplay? Story?

        • +2

I 100% 2 recently (Platinum trophies + 100% DLCs), it actually has really simple gameplay BUT the DLCs add 4 more combat styles that HUGELY helps the game in term of combat, if you start with 2, I reckon get the DLCs straight away and get the new combat style and move on to the main story.

Story is really light, no better or worse than 1, just different.

I actually hate the pokemon system of 1 because of catching monster is completely random. Combat of 1 is actually abit confusing at first.

Why the neg? He was asking a dumb question. He could have easily done his own research lol

        • +8

Probably because it's just a very negative reply that added nothing but scorn to a conversation.

    • I found 2 boring, couldn't finish it. I hope 1 is better but I am skeptical.

      • It's not. Some people seem to love it, but I personally found it boring. Everything about the game felt like it was geared toward very young audiences.

  • Does anyone know if the save data for the physical game is compatible with the digital edition?

    • +1

I went from physical to digital on Mario Kart 8 dx and my save carried over

      • Cool. I paid $29 for the physical copy. Wondering whether I should trade it in and get the digital one instead?

        • +1

imo $15 extra for physical is well worth it!

  • Thanks OP! Have been wanting to play this for a while.

  • +2

Remastered version is on sale as well for PC at a few places, around $19

I don't have a Switch but was going to buy the game since I'll be buying a Switch in the near future. It doesn't let me though… Purchase must be made through your Switch :(

    • You can purchase with a credit card or PayPal using the link above

      • Thanks mate, but I can't seem to figure it out https://imgur.com/mS8p8lI

        • +4

Purchases via the website can only be made after linking the account with the console itself.

          • @silverrat23: Yeah, not sure why I was negged.

          • +2

@silverrat23: Yup you don't need to actually own a console, but you do need to have created an account on a Switch.

Seem to remember thats what I did before I bought mine:
Used a friends console to make account -> linked to Nintendo account -> bought games -> unlinked his console once I bought mine.

    Now this is a deal

  • Purchased thanks for posting!

  • Purchased, Thank you for sharing!

  • +1

Thanks! Some more games I'll never finish but what a bargain!!

  • This is just like a typical JRPG?

    • Action RPG, not turn based, dont expect amazing story, its more inline with children book (which actually implies that in the game).

      • Thanks will check it out.

  • -4

If on gamepass free on well.

  • Is the switch version still broken?

    • +2

Nah, runs fine. The cutscenes are gorgeous done by studio ghibli.

  • I paid 40 bucks for this and it is a great game. It gets way too hard in some bits though and so gave up playing it.

    • What do you mean? What parts are too hard?

    • +1

Go grind and level up some more to make it easier?

    • I hit a wall at the Al-Khemi boss fight and stopped also.

  • +2

Great deal, reminds me of a studio ghibli film but in game format.

    To all,

Please be aware of the following:

"The Switch version is actually not the remastered one. It's just a port of the PS3 version of Ni no Kuni, at 720p resolution and 30 frames per second. (It also includes all the DLC.)"

    • +3

The animation was actually done by Studio Ghibli. Also the port still looks great on the Switch and runs fine. I don't think the remastered version had significant graphics upgrade anyway.

      • Its weird they remastered it IMO.

It already looks fantastic. But I've never played my Steam Remaster next to the Switch or PS3 version. Supposedly 'lighting' has improved?

  • +6

“Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure” is also great deal on eshop, only $2. Funny game to play with friends.

    • Stikbold is fun as hell!

  • Just nabbed a copy, thanks OP! Been waiting a while to play a Ni no Kuni game but waiting for the right bargain.

  • -4

Welp I shouldn't have impulse purchased. 30 fps @ 720p is gross. You can get it on ps4 for $24 from JB. 4k @ 30fps or 1440p @ 60fps. If I could refund and buy physical I would but oh well!

    • Would it make alot difference on switch screen?

      • +1

It honestly hardly makes a difference on any screen unless your TV is like 65". People buying a game for the resolution aren't really buying it for the enjoyment

        • +2

There absolutely is a noticeable difference between 720p and 4K on < 65” screen. No need to exaggerate.

          • @Captain Howdy: It doesn't kill the experience. Noticing a difference is an entirely different thing than not being able to see what everything is with clarity - which is all a game needs to provide.

Wish it was this price on PSN

  • Great deal but unfortunately my son is not into Japanese games. Off track question, i bought a Nintendo switch secondhand which came with a few digital games. It's been running fine until i purchase a DLC yesterday and now it shows an error message that "this user can't use the software". I understand that the owner probably move the primary console to another switch but i was just curious if my purchase was the culprit? Anyone knows a workaround? Thanks.

      This?

      • Yeah, when i purchased the console seller gave me the digital games as bonus. I guess he probably use another switch as his primary console hence we lost the access.

        • I believe you will also not be able to use the DLC if it isn't from the same region as the original game (i.e. Australian DLC, American original game).

          • +1

@Telios: That's broadly incorrect. Only applies to a handful of specific games.

I have cross region games/DLC that work perfectly fine with Smash Bros, Dead Cells and Rocket League from memory and haven't had an issue with any of them.

            • @Faro: Specifically:
North American physical copy of Dead Cells with paid DLC from the Australian eshop

Australian physical copy of Smash Ultimate with paid DLC from United States eshop

Australian digital version of Rocket League with paid DLC from Canadian eshop

              • +1

                @Faro: https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/…

Can DLC for one region be used with the same software title from another region?
DLC will work with games that are released for the same region as the DLC.

You can identify the supported region by checking the game packaging or by going to the game's software menu options, under Software Information and then Support Information.

                https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/social/question…

That is bad advice that you are giving.
All the official Nintendo websites and documents recommend you match the original game region and DLC region.
It might work for those select titles but it may not work for any others.

                • +1

@Telios: Yes but not entirely correct what you/Nintendo stated.

It is not always the case the region has to match between original game and dlc. There are several games that requires do need matching (ie. splatoon2).

Yet on the other hand, I have cid meiers civilisation US version, and purchased dlc from Nintendo eshop Australia, works perfectly fine.

It is definitely game by game case.

                  • @Jay Nomad: The games that don't match up directly are the minority of cases. No need for the fear-mongering from Telios is what I'm saying.

Same game posted on ozbargain yesterday for similar price for PC gets 12+ votes
    Switch version gets 270+ votes…

    • Switch is more accessible than a PC.

      • It's the worst version too.. not even remastered.

  • Yeah, because pc games a dime a dozen and so many free.

  • Thanks OP! Been waiting for a good sale on this game. It's a no brainer at this price.

  • +1

i bought it on PS3 but never played it..
probably just buy it on this and give it a go as my Switch is my go-to console now.

  • Jumped on this great deal, I've always wanted to play Ni No Kuni

  • This game is really good. It feels like a AAA game with amazing visuals and cutscenes.

  • +1
