Humidifier in Bedroom - Is It Safe for The Building?

Hi there,

I've started using a humidifier every night in my bedroom. So far I've used it for roughly 2 weeks.

Since my bedroom's window is towards the street (without fence), the window is always closed.

If I continue using this humidifier every night for let's say a year or over, can the humidity damage the structure or attract termites?

I had never used a humidifier before so not sure if this can affect anything.

Appreciate your knowledge on this.

Nah for termites, maybe for mould. Usually used with air cond

    • I read that termites like the humidity that's why I was worried but couldn't find more details online. It's mostly about humidifer safety.

When using humidifier, I always set a hygrometer near me to measure if I'm near getting dust mite or mould level. Somewhere 65% humid level is a sign of dust mites and 70% is mould level.

    • So if I get a hygrometer and maintain the humidity less than 65% I shouldn't get any bad consequences?

        Yes, exactly!

        • Thanks!

If most or everyday you wake up you see heavy condensation on the window glass (from inside), it is a sign that humidity is somewhat higher and may lead into mould. hopefully you’ll get some more helpful answers

    • Thanks. Yes there is some condensation on the Windows even on the ensuite, that's why I got worried.

I don't know about the building but I've had problems with these things & random crashes with my computer. When I turned the humidifier off again, the computer stopped crashing.

    • Ohh, not good. We only use it overnight when ready to sleep.

Running humidifier whole night gives me stuffed nose in the morning. Not sure if others also experience the same.

    • Husband snores less loud with humidifier on, that's why we use it, 😂.
