  It would sit too low near my lap. I feel I wouldn't be comfortable using it for navigation. More sight travel time.

    Yes, this would be somewhat dangerous for navigation as it significantly increases the time your eyes are off the road. If used just to stop your phone from flying around the cabin then it looks like it would serve that purpose well, but so does a glove box.
