Oh cool. I searched their website, however, could not find any information regarding it. Do you have any information about it ?

  • Simple, just ring up Big W to find out !

    • Will do that. Will they share that information ? Wouldn't that be rain check ?

  • FYI: iPhone 12 Mini is Single Sim (no Dual Sim Option)
    (if this matters to you)

    • Thanks. Not much of an issue

It is dual sim, same as the other iphone 12 models. They all use esim as the second sim, which is pretty crap

      • Why is eSIM crap? I don’t see the value of what a piece of plastic provides. I guess it’s kinda like comparing CDs to streaming, some prefer either way.

        • limited availability. pretty much need to be on a contract or similar from a large network. you cant just stick in any old cheap prepaid as an esim

its fine if youre with telstra or something where you have one main sim that you are using and paying a lot for, and then have a spare sim slot for work or occasional use or something.

but with regular dual sim you could cheap out on the main sim too, and reprioritize them easier. eg personal and work numbers could both be cheap kogan prepaids.
or if you go overseas for a while, you could park your number on a sim with 12 month expiry and pay nothing on it until you come back, while still receiving security SMSs etc, and pick up a local sim overseas.
or even if you dont go anywhere or need a second number, you can still park your own number and use the second slot to burn through cheap kogan sims without porting

          et cetera.

          • @crentist: Sure. Don’t disagree.. it’s pretty new tech. More carriers may move across in time. Mind you, it works for 90% of the market now already…

          • @crentist: I used to feel that way too before but I've found all the major telcos in Australia support eSim so it hasn't been an issue for me. On both my phones I use the eSim slot for my permanent Australian number, and then keep the physical slot free for a data sim either here or when travelling abroad (eg my Starhub prepaid sim from Singapore for roaming).

Only downside I find with these dual sim phones is that they sometimes get confused as to which sim should be used for regional conventions (eg my iPhone every now and then switches to the Singapore phone number convention rather than Australia) or apps which use the sim card's phone number to authenticate. Can cause an issue in various apps which rely on Sim1's phone number or location.

      • I misunderstood an article.. i stand corrected.

The iPhone 12 mini is not being released as a dual sim variant in China (as in no two sim tray option)

He believes demand for the mini will be hit by the fact that it doesn’t support dual SIMs, which are popular in China. Demand for small-screen phones is low in the Chinese market

        • The confusion arises because in the past, China/HK used to get real physical dual sim iPhones when rest of the world got esim.
