flybuys Reward Delivery (Serious) Delays

Not really writing that post to whinge, more to other's perspective and experiences with this situation.

I have ordered a Breville Food Processor as a flybuys reward for collected points. At the time of redemption, it was stated that wait time is up to 4 weeks.
That was 5 weeks ago. When the reward did not arrive last week, I gave flybuys a call, and was advised that they were following up with their internal rewards team, and would be sending me an update email in 2-5 business days. Nothing came through.
Today I gave them another call, and the operator stated he'd get in touch with the supplier while I was on hold, and would give me an update straight away. He did so, and apparently the supplier now advised him they might be getting some stock delivery this week or next, "they are not really sure", and when they do, they will send me my unit, which I should expect in the next 2-3 weeks.
He did suggest I could cancel my redemption, if I felt this was too long of a wait, but I think I am a bit too fixed on the idea of getting this item as a reward now, so I left it be for now.

The only thing that really bothers me, is a complete lack of communication from flybuys about this situation. Has anyone else experienced a situation like that, and if so, how did you guys deal with it?

    Sounds like a whinge to me…..

    What would I do? Exactly what you have done, apart from this thread.

      That's rather harsh, isn`t it mate? Redemption of points for their rewards is not a goodwill move on their end, where they selflessly give us stuff for free. It is a transaction for points, which we earn by spending real money in designated ways according to the promos they run.
      I would think that delivery dates rewards offered on their site should be treated in the same way, as they would be on any other online store. If there's lack of stock they are aware of, that should be signaled straight away, rather than pulled from their throats after 2 consecutive follow-up calls, with no promised feedback in-between them.

        Same things happen with online stock in stores…. We bought a cooktop from. Good guys that was "in stock" for delivery in a month. When we called to confirm the delivery then they said it wasn't in stock. every time we called they said 2 more weeks… For another 8 weeks…..if they didn't keep us on the hook for 2 weeks then 2 weeks and said 8 weeks I would have just gone and gotten another one. (we had kitchen plans done and stone cut to the dimensions already….)

        • My point exactly. If they were upfront with me about lack of stock with supplier on hand, and an approximate restocking date, I would have played my cards a bit differently. Now I am 5 weeks in, and might as well already stay at it, but with a rather unhappy thoughts about this whole situation of being "led on", rather than informed upfront.

    Their API has been having a lot of trouble recently and has caused major delays since 18/09/2020. Had a bunch of activated offer only to find out the API didn't successfully run them after meeting the terms. Had to create a ACCC report to get my points back. If I wasn't a developer I don't think I'd be able to explain that the fault was on their end.

  • I am experiencing the same issue mate.. I have ordered a tower fan on 2/10/2020 and still haven't received any updates or anything. I gave them a call but their response was quite unsatisfactory. They said as they are only forwarding the redeem requests to the supplier and so they have no further information for the order. I may or may not receive a tracking number when the supplier sends the goods to me. What an unknown situation really..
    I understand that flybuys is doing kind of "drop-shipping" for this case, however they should be the one who tracking the order with the supplier and so that they can give some updates on what's going on with the order and whether it's dispatched or not.. I m still waiting my fan without any updates, who knows when it will arrive. Hopefully before the end of summer!!
