Seeking Suggestions to Buy 14-15 Inch Laptop for Coding

Hello All,
Hope all are well and G’Day.

I’ve been looking to buy a laptop for my work purpose. I’ve plans to pursue DevOps career so that laptop performance should be good.
My requirements,
I7 10th gen and above, 16GB RAM, screen size 14-15 inch. A good batter life. Not worried about HDD. Also expecting the laptop is lighter.
Budget is <= 2500.
somehow I’m hesitant in Dell models and if you strongly recommend with your personal experience, I would definitely consider to buy it.

Thanks in advance for your valuable comments to lighten me in this and really appreciating that helpful minds.

Cheers,
Vikram.

  • Why intel?

With that budget you've got a wide range to choose from. Do you have any i/o requirements?

    • Thanks for your reply. No, I do have any I/o requirements.

  • Its above your price range but I suggest you look at the Aorus 15G, I've got one, it has a mechanical keyboard, intel 10th gen 8c/16t CPU and 2060 and doing anything on it is a dream. I do a lot of coding on it and also heaps of writing for my Uni degree.

If its for work purposes, remember its tax deductible, and you can depreciate it over 4 years.

I was like you and looked for something powerful around that price range for similar reasons, and I'm glad that I spent that bit extra, especially as I can claim it for work.

    • Sure, i will have a look at it. Thanks for your reply.

  • I bought a refurbished acer swift 3 for $500. I'm using this bfor coding. Its got 8gb ram, 512 ssd and decent cpu. Take a look there.

  • I would look at a business laptop like a Thinkpad, Dell Latitude or Hp Elitebook.

Not only that you will get great battery life. The keyboard on these business tier machine are a joy to type on which I personally think it essential to a good programming machine.

I'm ideally a Thinkpad fan. So if I was looking at your requirements in the Thinkpad Lineup, I would go for T14 or T14s. You can also look at a yoga or carbon series ThinkPad laptop. I'm sure HP or Dell will have something simlar as well.

    • I have been sneaking up on Yoga series. But they offer only limited ports:(

      • +1

Have you considered about using a usb-c or thunderbolt 3 docking station? You can expand your port selection when your on your desk and have a ultralight machine on the go.
