OK kids here is the bad news, anyone in VIC due to stage 4 conditions, I rang my store today and they were quick to let me know no trade ins will be happening, only pick ups.
There is no confirmation of honoring trade ins either so people don't get too excited about being able to offset with a trade in if this info is true.

Lol, well the truth of this is that I got my email yesterday confirming Nov 10 pick up, I called the store to ask about the trade in of console, they explained well you can pick up the console but you cannot trade in one.
They did mention 1 thing though, something about whether their stores have on Sunday a stage 4 lift.
Not much of anything to go off but fingers crossed we get an ease of restrictions.

I wont mention which store I spoke with either but given I have heard some enlightening information I thought I would share my experiences, not get called "slow"

No it hasn't, when did you confirm this? How could have it been said months ago when we didn't even know what stage restrictions we are in now?
I posted today's findings with a simple phone call, I suggest your call your local store to see what might or might not happen rather than calling someone "slow'

I think you're missing the whole point, I spoke to a manager who stated therr could be trade ins, you're exclussively writing this off as "NO there isn't" when you have no information other than speculation.
The release date has not come and gone, you cannot predict the future, but you can ring your store to ask them exactly what the circumstances are.
Next time be a little more respectful regarding what is being said, rather than your ominous negativity.
I'm hoping to trade in my Xbox X for a Series X on launch day, we'll see what happens.
Well if you are in metro VIC hit with stage 4, there will be no trade ins if the current stage 4 restrictions hold up.
I have looked at selling my Xbox X on eBay but really cannot be bothered with the hassle.
Good news is eBay is doing no fee sales atm so you keep most your $ in your pocket instead of line theirs.
We've got almost a month before the consoles are released, relax bro. We'll be out of stage 4.

I am making sure I have plan B where if I have to pay the lot, then I have the $550 available rather than $200 + trade.
They wont even do Afterpay over the phone as it is an in store.

@[Deactivated]: Mate, it's all over the news. There was a press conference at 11am. 5km zone goes to 25km, tradies back to work, unlimited exercise outside and meeting of groups of 10, retail opens up Nov 1.
@[Deactivated]: Yeah just read this, I am not currently watching FTA, am watching Discovery Turbo, so it's good news and EB games should be able to honor our trade ins.

@[Deactivated]: I just rang EB games and they were not able to help me as I expected, they don't have the information to say that trade ins as as per usual or how they will be done.
I was getting 2 diff bits of info when I said I wanted to trade my system early so I did not have to do it on day of release, we agreed on this and as a closing statement from the EB worker I was told to bring the trade in on day of release.
I'll just wait but good news is stage 4 restrictions have eased up which hopefully will still show a down turn in C19.
@[Deactivated]: Relax buddy, you are way too invested in this. You'll get your console, you'll get a trade in. Just chill out. No need for phone calls.
Not ideal, and there could be a lot of complaints given they advertised the cheaper prices for trading in a console, but didn't mention anywhere that it excluded VIC (whether Stage 4 lifts or not). If stage 4 doesn't lift and we can't trade in before picking up our new consoles, they'd have to come up with a way to retroactively credit us when we eventually trade our consoles later (i.e. back to our payment method, not just store credit).
I think stores will be open before then and we'll be fine, but I wouldn't be mad if not lol, I'm close enough to Level 4 that buying the PS5 outright will get me there, which will give me extra trade credit when I eventually trade my stuff in later on. If I trade beforehand, I'm guessing it will all still be at my current Level 3.
