My friend sent me a link to receive a free Hello Fresh box worth $100. She said she was able to refer 5 people.
Sounds to generous…do you think there’s a catch?

The catch is you potentially get hooked and sign up yourself.
Sounds legit, I’m thinking because she has paid subscription.
Correction: More accurately the catch is what rompastompa said, you have to sign up, the first box is free, then you get charged for boxes going forward, or you have to cancel your subscription to avoid this.
Yep, catch is that you become their customer and they hope you continue the subscription / refer others.
You need to sign up for a subscription to receive it. Don't forget to cancell it once the free box arrives.
Anyone got a code for a free box?
OP does 😂
Hello Fresh is basically restaurant delivery that you need to cook yourself. I find the way Hello Fresh packages stuff is a waste. Think they plastic wrapped a single vegetable for one of the meal ingredients.
I haven't used them for quite a few years now, but at the time I found their packaging fairly reasonable for what it is. Often all the fruit and veg would just be packed in the bad loose without needing additional packaging except for certain items.
do you think there’s a catch?
Aside from what's already mentioned, the shipping fee. Think it's $10.
Just found a free code. Basically took $150 off the family of 4 box that has 5 dinners sorted. Cost an extra $20 but happy to pay that for all those meals!
$150 off dam, any more of these codes around?
I found a group on facebook called 'hello fresh tips/chat and discount codes'. Join that and just ask for one, otherwise people seem to regularly post them there. Watch out though as some codes seem to offer different discounts and might just be referral codes.
The send free box option on my account is greyed out. I might need to continue paid subscription to get the codes to people.
Only code I can see now is to send $50 off referral.
The discount is spread over a set number of boxes (4?) and apart from the convenience, even at the discounted price it is no bargain deal.
$100 off one box not 4
Just make sure you unsubscribe before the deadline for the next week. It is usually the same day you receive an order or the next day. So people usually accidentally pay for a box they don't want as they don't know they have to cancel so quickly.
A friend gave me a free box code which I redeemed, and a while later I got another from a different person - but I think the two voucher codes were identical (or at least suspiciously similar).
Could it be that the free box codes are actually generic?
YO-NDPE7 if anyone wants to try.
Obviously you try it at your own risk and there's no guarantee it'll work. Monitor your credit card pending charges and if they try to charge the full amount get on live chat immediately.
I've used numerous HelloFresh 'free box' discount codes over the years. Subscribed once for a couple of weeks but the food is just too 'sad' looking by the 4th or 5th day. And with delivered groceries being a big thing now I don't really see the point in HelloFresh or similar, but a free week's worth of groceries is something an OZB cant say no to.
In short, as soon as you place your order for your first box, you can cancel or suspend your future orders, so no risk of additional costs. Will just get the occasional email with a discount for first time users, which makes no sense.
To make the most of free boxes, you can order under your name, your partner's name, someone else who lives with you, and use a different credit card to pay for it. Then, if you ever move addresses, you can repeat the process. easy way to get some cheap food for the week.
Pre-dawn deliveries are simply left on the doorstep (or other location you specify), so it's possible to use any names you like as there is no requirement to sign for it anyway.
I've heard of a family of six getting a free box under each of their names. Don't know whether the system has an upper limit.
Yeah, the only issue I've come across is the system sometimes rejects a card that has been used previously.
I'm yet to try prepaid cards.
I have a few codes if anyone wants one. (Must be new signup). PM me.
I only just joined so I can't message you. If you have a code for a free family box I'd love one. Could you PM me?
I’ve not got any free boxes left sorry only $70 codes.
You can get a $70 code using the random referral ozbargain thing.
Oh ok. Thanks anyway.
I’ve got 6 Free boxes. PM if anyone want to try HF for the first time.
Hey have you got any left?
Is it supposed to be a free box + delivery, or "total of up to $100.01 off HelloFresh. With this offer you will receive up to $60.01 off box 1, up to $20 off box 2, up to $20 off box 3"?
My original account says I can send a free box, but receipient email says the above (total $100.01 off) wth….
Mine says… up to $165…. $125 off first & $20 each for next 2!
I have a few codes if anyone wants one. (Must be new signup). PM me.
Hello, I am after a free box if anyone has one. I would really appreciate it, single mumma with 3 kids here. Cost of living is really hurting us. Thank you in advance!!
Hi @user 9876, PM'd you… Order 4 serving x 3 Recipe for best value out of first box.
The HelloFresh free box request megathread is here:
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/602287If you are giving away codes, or asking for one, please redirect to the link above. ThanksUpdate 25-Jan-2023
The Free box request forum is now also closed as of Jan 2023. Hellofresh now just has a referral program where you can give away free boxes but also receive store credit in return. You will now need to use the Referral system. Please don't solicit referrals anywhere on Ozbargain (e.g in comments).
This thread will now be closed.
I've had one in the past, pretty good deal
