Greetings!
I'm on the look for a laptop or desktop. I don't really have a budget planned.
This pc is going to be used as a gaming stream management centre.
It will have all the accessories connected to it like monitors, mic, cameras, lights, stream deck, etc.
I will capture my gaming from my Series X / PS5 / Switch with a capture card and all the gaming will be done on the consoles. That means I won't need an expensive graphic card to run the video games I play.
That being said, I will also probably use the PC to trim and do some light video editing for Youtube.
I used to know a tad about PC hardware or how to build one like 10 or more years ago when Crysis was the benchmark for a good gaming setup. I have no clue of the hardware now and what's best. Hence why I'd rather buy something already built like a laptop or a prebuilt desktop.
And that's also the reason I've come to my fav forum to ask the experts.
So here come the questions:
Laptop or Desktop?
Are laptops a good option for what I want? Will they suffer from overheating during the (Brisbane) summer and make my stream stutter? If I get a laptop with no ethernet port, are usb network adapters good enough to not bottleneck my NBN speed? The reason I'd find a laptop useful is because I don't currently have one and would be nice to take it places if needed.
How good of a graphic card do I need for my purposes? Are integrated cards enough or should I aim for a specific range?
Thanks beforehand for your input.
You’ll still want a dedicated GPU for video editing. Rule of thumb used to be up to 50% of budget should be on GPU, maybe on your set up it should be 30 to 40%. You’ll want a decent CPU for editing as well.
