Where can I sign up to buy infinity?

    • +1

      Super Broden!

  • Now listed at $1042. Damn.

  • Deal finished :/

  • Mine has a Estimated ship date: 16/11/2011!

    Before it was blank.

  • Sorry folks.

If its a genuine price error they don't have to and won't honour the deal.

Now you just gotta wait for the refund to come through.

LOL I got a negative vote.

Not my fault they won't honour the deal.. its in their Terms and Conditions.

  • Was it an error or real deal?

  • +1

Think they're gonna honour it. Mine has changed to "submitted" and has both shipping date and method. They were blank 30 minutes ago.

    • +2

      Same here * hi5 *

      • +1

        me 2 :)

        • So "hi5" for all of us ^_^. Hope they're gonna do it.

        • Is this what you guys have?

          Order status: Submitted
          Shipping method: L2 GL Standard
          Estimated ship: 16/11/2011

    • Got a message about 1.5 hours ago after I emailed them regarding the validity of this deal:

"We ran out of stock for this model. A sales rep will rin gyou shortly to offer another model to you, and we may have to cancel this order.
      thanks."

I just checked my status and yep you're right it has a shipping date now.

Hmm, I guess I'll just send in my direct deposit and see what happens. It might be honoured :)

      • that is not right!

they cancel the order because OUT OF STOCKS?
and now listing the exact same stuff & asking for HIGHER PRICE?

they shouldn't & couldn't just use the "out of stock" excuses!
I smell ACCC even though this maybe a pricing error,
but still…they have exact same thing & use "out of stock" as excuse!

    • Ok latest news. Just called again. Even though my status had a shipping date, they said it was Out of Stock. I could either cancel or place an order for their standard configuration with the same specs for 1150 (or something like that). I cancelled :(

      • I wonder if there is a difference in payment methods? When I ordered they took money off my CC straight away.

        • They didnt take your money off straight away, what they do is put a sale hold on the card. If funds are not taken out in 7days they are given back to you.

        • From my phone conversation, there is no difference in payment methods. Either way CC or Direct Deposit it only depends on the time of your order.

      • What time did you place the order?

        • My original confirmation of purchase was at 9:16am

        • 9.16am? That's early. Did you buy it before it was on ozb?

        • Bought after it was on OzBargain. From Perth haha :P

        • 9:16am in Perth is like 12:16pm in Sydney.

Ozbargainers who bought earlier than 12:16pm might still have hopes……

  • damn, missed out! :-(

if anyone decided not to buy it for any reason!
(financial, impluse, too many laptops, wife is complaning)

pass it on to me & I will buy it off you!!!!!!

  • Now my order status turns into "FS ReRoute Pending", don't know what's the exact meaning but doesn't sound good to me. Finger crossing.

  • I think the orders are being canceled.

    FS ReRoute Pending

    Shipping & Handling: AU$0.00
    Total: AU$0.00

    • -4

sound relief to me :) no offence

    • my order is still "Submitted" with today as the shipping date. My order date has yesterdays date on it tho :S

    • This is what mine currently says too. Just wait to see what happens I guess.

  • Bad luck guys :(

  • Same story here…

  • Apparently the deal was showing in whirlpool as early as 9:30am in the morning…..

    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1705066&p…

  • I was looking at Edge 420 yesterday for my company, didnt notice anything difference.

    • +2

Edge 420 IS much different mate.

      • much much different. Better buy a vostro than that.

  • I called Lenovo and they told me, it was a system error and orders will be cancelled :(

  • -1

hate all this system error crap! First it was coles with the beer, now Lenovo - I think I see a pattern, it's a free way to get a WHOLE LOT of new customers to signup to a site. This should be illegal! :(

  • mine also says FSRerouting, Hope it doesnt get cancelled. damn, I really needed a laptop and couldn't spend more than that.

  • i was really regret that i missed out this morning. now i'm happy :-)

    • +3

I was regretting for missing, but I still wish, Lenovo to honor it.

  • +5

I did not buy but hope Lenovo honour the deal.

  • Bait advertising
'Bait advertising' describes the situation when a trader advertises goods at a certain price (usually a 'sale' price) but does not have a reasonable supply. What is a 'reasonable supply' will depend on several things, including the type of product and the way it was promoted or advertised.

If a trader has genuinely underestimated the popularity of a sale product, it may not be considered bait advertising.

For example, an electronics retailer runs a major national campaign advertising 50-inch televisions at a low price of $799 for a week-long sale. The retailer usually sells about 30 televisions of this type every week. The retailer only stocks two televisions at the advertised price and refuses to take customer orders. When customers attempt to buy the television at the advertised price, they are told it is out of stock and offered a more expensive unit for $999. This is likely to be bait advertising as the retailer does not have a reasonable supply of the advertised television.

    • +2

      And your point is…?

      • +1

I knew it! Someone was going to ACCC it up sooner or later. I love how some consumers think they're so privileged; a good, honest company makes a mistake and they try to do whatever they can to exploit it.

        • +1

The should have put it "pricing error". And fine, all done, no more complaints. But in this case they said it was due to "out of stock" so it would be a different story…

        • Someone was going to ACCC it up sooner or later

haha so true. kheob, we never heard back from that dude claiming to ACCC threat his way to a $99 laptop from OW either :)

        • oh yeah that $99 Toshiba laptop he was supposedly getting. Guy was a big fat poser if you ask me

        • haha so true. kheob, we never heard back from that dude claiming to ACCC threat his way to a $99 laptop from OW either :)

Knew he was talking a load of crock. It would be a shame if companies started to 'ban' themselves from this site to avoid all the complaints to the ACCC.

  • ThinkPad X220, 2 GB PC3-10600 DDR3 (1 DIMM). Valued at: $2,313.45. Amazing value for money…

  • So, when do we know for sure that order is going through or cancelled, I really need a laptop, can't have my money stuck forever.

  • +1

well when i called up, they really tried to hard sell me on the edge model. Did anyone else get that? She said they sold out of the last 2 "just then" even thought i called up way after everyone else reported similar calls.
I don't know what to make of this, I think it could have been a COTD style (only 1 or 2 available) bait sale.

    • +1

So they have sold their last 2 a thousand times lol.

  • +1

They tried this nonsense with me when I purchased and paid for an edge model, 2 weeks later they called me back cancelled my order and tried to make me purchase a higher priced model. Lost a lot of regard for Lenovo.

  • +1

called them up, they said all nonsense about pricing error/out of stock/system problem. then redirected me to sales team, who wanted me to sell the same product for 1150 - 10% 1050, I said that is normal price now, where is my discount for your error, then they offered me half price for the extra 3 years warranty. I didn't take it, so they finally cancelled the order. I got an email regarding that. On top of it, in the email the refunded money was stated less. I had to email them again to get it fixed. Sigh, no more going lenovo.

    • +1

Isn't that the definition of bait advertising?

      • +1

I dont think it would be.

If it is a pricing error or stock error then Lenovo does not need to accept the payments and deliver the laptop at the advertised price. (The agreement you make with them says this)

There is nothing wrong with Lenovo offering the same laptop at its usual price, that is not bait/switch. They have not switched the good for sale.

If Lenovo was offering a more expensive laptop model instead of the X220 then it would be bait/switch

It is like stores saying "No rain checks"
Lenovo are not letting you pay the discounted price for new inventory of the laptop

        • stating something is out of stock and then selling it at a higher price is very unethical and unprofessional, dunno about the legality of this but I should think that to some extent what they done is not entirely by the books

        • -1

Well nothing at lenovo is never really out of stock as they build laptops when you order them to your specifications.

This deal was for an already built, ready to ship laptop.
You could not customise it as is normal with lenovo.

As someone has already suggested it could have been a corporate order that went wrong. So something like a school, university or company ordered many hundred/thousand and then cancelled the order so lenovo wanted to clear out the laptops which had already been built and were taking up space in their warehouse.

Selling these pre built laptops and then continuing to sell a fully customisable, built to your order laptop are two different things

        • +2

looks like a pricing error, then it should have been told as a pricing error rather than out of stock. If we were told it was pricing error, yes many people would start complaining to the ACCC(for whatever reason) but lying to the customer is worse

  • So is anyone getting one? Or did lenovo cancel all orders?

  • So all the people are loving this deal for its failure. Gotta love the Ozbargain spirit!

  • yeah I +ed it as well!

It was a great deal for the handful that will actually get one!

Well actually I called them and this real nice lady said there "was about a hundred that were in stock"

And of course we must believe them!

They are a great company! Lenovo! Cant' wait for the next great, great deal! YAY!

    • That is fine but from what I read into the comments, they are going to cancel all orders as it was 'a pricing error', so they may have a thousand laptops but they are not going to process orders due to the error!

  • I still haven't received any calls/emails from Lenovo. I want to see how long it will take before they contact me. I want them to feel embarrassed (or to see how thick are their skins) - or will they?

    • Me too. I am gonna leave it for a few days and see will they contact me or not. Maybe just call and ask where is my laptop after a week, as it's supposed to be at my door by that time.

  • Any update?

    • call and find out?

  • +4

Just got cancellation email. no apology, no excuse, therefore no business with you any more, Lenovo!

    • Same here. No apology, no excuse in the email. I am really disappointed, not for the cancellation (since it is expected), but for the attitude of the company.

They could have simply written there was a price error…

    • Same here, and showing the price excluding GST, though the saleman in the phone assure me the full amount will be refunded. But it's very disappointing Lenovo, even Topbuy gave $10 voucher to show their apology.

    • Got a cancellation email too. Wondering if it's worth chasing it up with CA or ACCC? The money from my CC was "taken" and I haven't been able to use the funds for the last week, then they just cancel with no explanation…

  • Same here. No apology whatsoever.

  • wtf
    $487.91 + $1 taken from my bank
    $443.55 showing in the email
    why?

    • GST…

      • so they charged me for something i didnt buy/receive?

        • What I heard is the GST will be refunded to OZ customer, but NZ customer also purchase from the same site, thus the GST was not included in the email to everyone, but full paid amount will be returned.
Just wait and see, I don't think Lenovo will make that obvious mistake for us to complain, they did very well on avoiding being ozbargained.

        • +4

          thanks for clearing that up
lenovo just gave themselves a bad rep here
