Cheapest I have ever seen. Yes it's SMR, I already have 2 and was looking for the same to fill the other 2 bays.

Edit: I believe other higher sizes are discounted as well.

Looks like 10TB offers the best value of $29/TB if anyone else was interested.

    • I agree, mine is a refurbished old NAS which doesn't support 10TB drives unfortunately :(

I would agree… this is the lowest price I've seen them (10tb EFAX). I have 4 in my NAS plus one spare for redundancy.

    • I'm new to this NAS thing, whats the difference between WD40EFAX (SMR) vs WD40EFRX (CMR) in terms of performance. Which is better over other ?

Even I wouldn't know. But seems CMR is better overall in the long run.

        • From what i read and saw on youtube performance tests, it depends on your use case. For me it's just storing media and using as a plex server. One over the other won't have any performance degradation for this use case (also as long as you don't mix them in a RAID array). If you intend to use to as a multi-user NAS constantly writing and reading with no pauses in between (probably like a surveillance storage?) CMR maybe better.
Don't quote me on any of the above, better do your own research and come to a conclusion :)
