      512gb Gahhh

  • Thanks OP. Bought a 512gb one. Better than the Sandisk Extreme Pro deal IMO.

    • are you sure ? … i am aiming atm, my finder is on the trigger …

Sandisk is $139. Samsung is $107. Yes, this Samsung doesn’t have local warranty but I think Samsung is more reliable than Sandisk nowadays. Speed is also similar as both being UHS-I class 3.

    • SD Extreme Pro is much faster if that's important. You pay for the performance though.

      • If you are talking about the Extreme Pro UHS-II then yes, but the UHS-I is not ‘much faster’. They both have comparable speed. The UHS-I Extreme Pro does not reach the speed they claim.

        • Depends on which tests you read/believe (they all have to be taken as guides only) but yes I was referring to the better SD EP card.

Wrt the lower spec, the second link below shows reasonable gaps in performance, the first very little. Cards of varying sizes can also give quite different results so you can't assume all card capacities of a card type will perform the same (this gets mentioned by some testers and commenters). Not much point in buying a very fast but much more expensive card if your device is limited or you won't see a performance difference in practice though.

  • Pefect, been waiting for this, thanks.

  • Good price for a 256gb card.

  • Which is better - the $89 Sandisk Ext Pro 400gb vs 512gb Samsung EVO Select?

  • Which is the better purchase for a Samsung S20+ out of this Evo Select 256GB or the Sandisk Extreme 256GB for $49?

No contest, the Samsung Evo Select for $43 (prime) wins on quality & price

      • Price obviously but how did you arrive at the quality conclusion?

        • +1

Never had a Samsung fail, sadly can't say the same for Sandisk, have learnt the hard way (lost data)

          • @Dobe: Sandisk used to be King especially when it comes to standard SD cards/compact flash. Can’t say the same with their micro SD cards. I used to be in the if-it’s-not-a-Sandisk-won’t-buy camp but not anymore. I noticed their quality has gone down hill since the acquisition by WD.

          • @Dobe: Understand, it's a difficult hurdle to overcome when you've had a bad experience with any product. Tiny sample size though. I've never had any card fail but that means nothing in the scheme of things. Is there some discussion about micro SD card reliability that I'm missing? As with anything valuable it's always smart to backup important data regularly and/or carry a backup card with a copy of the data you need.

@[Deactivated]: Please, don't let my view stop you from spending an extra $6 on what may or may not be a better quality product, I will be staying with Samsung for now.

              • -1

@Dobe: No problem, I'm interested in reasonable people's experiences but rarely swayed by occasional anecdote. I totally disregard comments like 'such and such a company/product has gone downhill' unless it's backed up elsewhere, preferably with hard data. Already bought a SD Extreme to use in a tablet - ironically a Samsung. There are plenty of good-quality cards out there beyond the realm of SD and Samsung. If your application is going to thrash a card or its function is critical then you need to be paying a bit more and buying endurance versions.

  • This or Ultra for switch?

  • This card write speed is around 60-70MB/s. Go for Evo instead, the write speed will be 90MB/s.

From what the people on here and I understand is this Evo Select is a rebranded Evo Plus sold exclusively by Amazon so I am not sure what makes the difference in speed. Care to elaborate more?

      • If you read some reviews from Amazon, they say that the write speed is around 60-70MB/s.

"At this price point and free prime delivery from US, its no brainer. It was $50 aud when I bought this. Write speed is around ~70mb/s, read is around 80mb/s on h2wtest. Forgot to take a photo. But still three times cheaper than 512gb, also around $30-$40 sandisk 256gb in Amazon AU, and still does the job."

    • Benchmarks in the links I provided suggest otherwise, but they're only a guide.

  • Anyone else look at this and immediately think of the Woolworths Select brand?
