Would this be fine for gaming? Or is a portable not preferable for constant gaming (heat, performance etc)?
(I tend to use an external HDD for gaming atm, with a small internal SSD for the OS and a few other bits and pieces)
I previously used the t5 Samsung portable SSD for gaming and it worked well. I bought this for gaming also, I assume it will be similar.
No reason you couldn’t use this for gaming. Even texture streaming shouldn’t be an issue. It goes up to 1050mb/sec, which is nearly twice as fast as the SATA SSD speed ceiling (internal or external), so that’s pretty dang fast!
what about heat dissipation though, if its going to be on for a lot of hours and under constant use/readwrite cycles
@payton: Gaming doesn’t write much. Honestly this drive should be fine for anything you can throw at it. And if not, I’ve not once had any hassles getting a full refund from OW. Even on a product that carked it after 2 years, and this has a 5y wty. That said, always keep a backup of anything important (also protects against accidental formatting and misplaced ssd lol)
