    I want to loose 7-8kg

    Eat less, exercise more.

Lol, a chubster must have negged you.

To be fair, that doesn’t work for everyone. I’m recovering from chronic heath issues and had to drop my kJ intake to <5000 to prevent weight gain, based on my work/activity I should theoretically have been able to eat 9000 without gaining weight. After resetting my body I can now eat around 8000 of a balanced diet and don’t gain weight.

100% agree. I have a pretty good diet, but the drugs I take to keep a decent quality of life cause severe fatigue and weight gain.

It's not always about being an Augustus Gloop.

    • Any plan etc. to follow which you can suggest ?

I am utterly confused when I am in Gym. Its overwhelming sometimes, and almost blank what exercise to do,

      • Most gyms have trainers you can hire cheaply (or free for noobies) who will give you an assessment and a training program for you to do.

ABS are made in the Kitchen.

I have been hitting the GYM everyday for my whole life 35 years. All so i can eat all the crap i want and still look ok.

PS: i have lost 10kg since 1st June. I still eat treats daily, just in moderation.

        • Do you have any tips for beginners ?
Will sticking to any program help? Sam Wood or Freeletics etc?

          • @Chindi: Calories in v's calories out.

You determine what calories go in ie: junk or fuel and what goes out (exercise).

You need to work out what you are willing to sacrifice for the look.

Food or exertion and to what degree.

      • The #1 mistake people make is thinking they can offset food with exercise.

Once you look up how much you have to run, most people would be exercising non stop.

75% of weight loss is food related.

    • If I eat less, my body becomes cold and I feel very low on energy.

      • +2

Thats the point, your body is using the energy you've stored over the decades.

don't go all out and massively cut down your meals. Just have slightly smaller portions, and step it up from there once you're comfy with the new regime

Why not just do keto and intermittent fasting for a few months since it’s only 8kgs? After you drop the weight move to a more balanced whole food diet, exclude junk food and do light exercise. It’s unlikely you’d gain the weight back.

If you don’t fix the reason why you gained the weight you’ll just put it back on within 12 months.

      This.

      • I am pretty good at controlling diet, but not an exercise or sports lover.

Never played any sport throughout my life. Eating wise I am pretty disciplined (90% of the time).

No pizza, soda, fast food. Sometimes banana ice-cream (once/twice a month)

Sometimes carried away with snacking that too healthy one but v high calories (Nuts, Almonds etc).

Due to covid gained 4-5 kgs which is not going away, was hovering around 72Kg pre covid, now 77ish. 165 cms

Exercise doesn't have to mean sport. You just need to move.

Take the stairs, walk daily, get a pedometer or app for the phone counting your steps. Set a sensible target and attempt to meet that as often as possible.

Use an activity app like Runkeeper, to record your activity. Start gently, increase duration and intensity gradually.

Lastly, we all have days were we can't meet our goals, don't give up. Go again the following day.

@DashCam AKA Rolts: Thanks for the advice.

Walking everyday for 4.5 kms and 7-800 jump rope. (not consistent though)

Will try to improve on it.

            • +1

@Chindi: Great to hear. If you can, keep a record, eg using the suggested app types. It helps with motivation.

You don’t need to do a lot of exercise. You need to fix your body and then keep an eye on calories in - calories out.

The first thing you need to do is keep an accurate food diary that includes food/drink consumed, time of day, and quantity of food.

        • Being active will boost your metabolism.

Metabolism slows sown with age. The older you get the more effort you require to put into weight loss or maintenance. If you are not prepared to do any form of exercise then the weight will slowly but surely creep up regardless of whether you eat less or more.

I suggest even walking 30mins twice a day and buy one of those vibration machines and stand on it for 15mins a day. They are cheap and great for blood circulation and visceral fat. Visceral fat us the most dangerous.

If i want to speed things along I will combine with acupuncture and cupping. It's natural therapies and helps immensely with weight loss from personal experience.

          There's always duromine for 7kgs.

        • Where did you buy banana ice cream if you don't mind me asking? Never saw that flavour in super markets before.

Why not just do keto and intermittent fasting for a few months since it’s only 8kgs?

Can confirm I started IF since the beginning of lockdown, lost close to 10kgs already. I never used to snack between meals, I now do because it doesn't seem to stop the weight loss.

  • How did the treadmill go?

    • Didn't buy.

Getting only shitty ones on Gumtree and most of AU out of stock

Currently got a set of dumbbells, skipping rope, a normal city bike and some stretch bands

Eat less. Go for a walk (or don't, diet is most of it).

  • Do you avoid proccesed foods, sugar and drink only water and still gain weight?

What do you normally eat and drink every day?

    • I consider my diet almost good.
Scramble eggs and single toast in breakfast and chicken legs air fried in dinner
Lunch have carbs in it (like vegetable or chicken wraps)
100% use of Red Island olive oil
2 coffees with full cream milk everyday (1 small Cap from outside, and 1 mocanna with v little milk)
I have occasions in a day (due to WFH) when I do snacking but its more of nuts, cashews and mangos sometimes :-)
But no Sugary drinks (1 glass of wine 6 days a week) and no other type of alcohol

Typical Ozbargain forum thread. OP asks a direct question about a specific subject, and gets a bunch of unsupported irrelevant drivel in response.

    • Nothing to support.

Calories v calories out unless you have an underlying issue ie: thyroid etc.

Its not rocket science it's sacrifice and what are you willing too sacrfice.
