  • Those LGs are pretty nice, I think they were flogging this off for $2000 in Harvey Norman so its a good deal. edit: the one in HN was a 3D one.

I need another TV for my new house, dont know if I should grab this now and just store it for a month or two or wait till after xmas sales maybe. hmm

      xmas sale without question

  • 400Hz? Damn. Shmoooth.

EDIT: Just noticed it says "Nano full LED". Does that mean its not an edge lit LED TV? If so, big ups on that.

    • yeah, that's the uncertainty atm.. some reviews do say it's backlit.
i read on the LG website user reviews and some people are having trouble with presumably laggy HDMI with their console/home theatre/blu-ray… would would be concerning.

it seems like a crazy good deal.. as I don't regard 3D that much.

      • I've had the TV for 2 weeks now, i did notice some lag when playing xbox games, but after discovering the game mode it has been fine and all noticeable lag has gone.

Whats the point in 400hz when the input will never pass 60hz (60hz x2 in 3D)? People like looking at the same frame 6 times?

Should be looking at the LED Grey to Grey refresh rate.

Bought this TV on the weekend and it was delivered today - LOVE IT. Tried to get a price match from Bing Lee (who had it on sale for $1898), but they couldn't get anywhere near it.

JB added an xbox slim, surge protector and wireless dongle (which the TV needs if you want wireless) in a package for $1,670.

    • The LG website states that the wireless is built in on this model?

It also mentions that the also 6500: *Optional Wi-Fi adaptor (AN-WF100) may be required?

      I'm confused.

      • yeah I got this TV from JB the other week, it has wireless built in

        • So I can connect to my home network and stream media?

        • yep does a great job, really happy with it using either the dlna support it can act as a plex extender (via lg's medialink) - really awesome (http://plexapp.com/) and makes the purchase even more worthwhile for the price

mind you I've now plugged it in via ethernet, even though it was next to my router it occasionally did stop for a second on ~3gb mkv movies

        • sorry meant wireless stopped for a second on wireless n, Ethernet is flawless

    • This TV comes with built in wireless.

  • NICE ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was just checking if they had 3 years warranty and they do according to their website because it was something I read about not long ago. It's good to see some tv manufacturers supporting their products for longer. The star rating is good too.

    WarrantyTV - 3 Years Parts & Labour, Accessory - 1 Year Parts & LabourEnergy
Rating6.0 (Star Rating is achieved when TV is used in Home Mode).

  • Any thoughts on the the passive Cinema 3D used by LG?

    • From what I tested from LG regarding passive 3D use, I'd be happy with it.

I still think active 3D looks better (less blurry/cross talk) but passive is cheaper, no syncing issues, lighter and less strain on the eyes. Comes down to personal taste really.

      • this tv doesn have 3D thou?

    • I personally own an active 3D and i find the passive has more separation.

However it is half the resolution in 3D mode so you can really see lines and picture just isn't as dense in passive.

It still had cross talk, and it gets worst when you're not dead centre in front of the tv.

I didn't see colour shifting issues with passive though.

even though I would hardly use it, i would expect 3d at this price.

    too big for me anyway.

This is a LED LCD - not your regular LCD or Plasma TV.

      • your point being?

        • -1

My point being your expectations on "expect 3d at this price" is flawed.

      • LED is just Snake Oil, im with Nubzy on this. Save money and buy an LCD or even better, a plasma.

  • No 3D on this tv for the Oz version, but some people have managed to crack it, and get 3D. Also, I have this TV and I've noticed my TV has lag during gaming with consoles (mainly noticed on XBox with Forza)

  • JB said $1480 was the best they could do. Went to Harvey Norman for a price match and managed to get it for $1480 with 6 months free pay TV as a bonus.

  • heh never heard of harveys giving out fox for free before..

  • I'm tempted, but with Xmas around the corner I'm keen to see what the other retailers are offering.

    Hi,

This is Not a 3D TV.
They are empty theilr stock…LG send LW9500 Not 3D TV for australia….

    • looking at howbazaar's link above it seems like it could be cracked using a universal remote to get 3D capability

  • Sorry for my english…

    • Better than our english! :-)

  • Also the screen is really quite glossy and reflective, especially if you have a light room, where the light source comes from opposite the TV. But otherwise in the right lighting conditions is a really solid screen, great picture

    • This is what I don't understand. Most people will find the gloss annoying so why do manufacturers like LG and Samsung continue to use them instead of non-glossy panels?

    • don't know why I was voted down, was trying to be helpful to those considering this deal, my living room gets bright where this is during the day, have to close the blinds and am considering blocking out the arch we have on the opposite side of the room to cut out all the glare - you see your own reflection in darker scenes

Welcome to Ozbargain, where nothing really makes sense and most things are taken the wrong way!

  • good deal. now to twiddle my thumbs until they drop to $1000… blurry CRT gaming during holidays for me :(

  • Bought mine 4 months ago for about $1800. That's a big price drop. Anyone who wants to buy should maybe wait till Xmas. Anything under $1500 would be a steal.

  • I will wait till it comes down to around 1000 bucks. Patience is a virtue.

  • The replacement for this is the 55LW9800, the only differences is the nicer body, 3D, bit more motion Hz and more zones for the LED.

Excellent price for the TV though, great picture quality but you will have to get used to the slow dynamic lighting system (not so good).

  • I bought this tv for $2000 a few months ago from JB, absolutely love it, highly recommend if you don't want 3D. Wish I waited a few months and saved $500 though.

buy a 3d tv unless you plan to buy another one within 3 years. expect games go 3d within 2 years and most of movies go 3d within 3 years.

    • are you high?

3D was a bust, hell they even removed 3d capability from freetoair tv towers the takeup was so bad

      • 3D blu-rays are great, no complaints here. Free to air is always behind, they have no idea what they are doing.

  • How is the viewing angle on this, thinking about going to jb and checking it out

  • Hi,
Is it possible to convert 3D? I check in JB and they say's it is not 3D. is it possible to crack or update firmware and see 3D movie?

  • Check out howbazaar's post above.

  • 3D, failing epically since 1952! Nice set , bring on the 60" plus units and I will buy

  • Bit the bullet, no regrets. Loving plex.

  • where is this tv made, anyone know?
