Australian Green Asparagus Bunch $1.50 @ Coles

180

As Benjamin Franklin wrote in 1781, “A few stems of asparagus eaten, shall give our urine a disagreable odour.” This odor has become so well known that post-consumption urine is now often referred to as “asparagus pee.”

On the plus side:
It's low in calories and a great source of nutrients, including fiber, folate and vitamins A, C and K. Additionally, eating asparagus has a number of potential health benefits, including weight loss, improved digestion, healthy pregnancy outcomes and lower blood pressure.

Recipe ideas:
Asparagus can be used in a number of dishes like salads, stir-fries, frittatas, omelets and pastas, and it makes an excellent side dish.

Australian Grown

YMMV in price from other Greengrocers :)

Thanks RichardL for the post on an early Coles catalog. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/572050

Purchased yesterday at Coles for $1.50 a bunch.

  • They are currently $1.50 in both Coles and Woolies.

    There is no saving here…

Cool - that means the price will continue on until next week and will be nation wide pricing (rather than some locations getting better pricing than others). Yay!

      More Asparagus for everyone ;)

They usually get down to around $1 this time of year as it's approaching peak production season.

        • Let's hope they price beat themselves :D 👍

$1.35 in Hawthorm VIC Woolies over the weekend. Not sure why.

    • I notice that too, going below catalog price. Some Coles or WW price match or beat a greengrocer in the same mall.

$1/bunch at woolies at the moment

They were $1.29/bunch at Aldi yesterday (Sydney metro)

yep, Coles quite expensive, no deal

  • +1

My local greengrocer has them for 80 cents a bunch.

  • So many posts here with same or better pricing, but no-one has downvoted the 'deal'????

    • Some people don't have access to affordable green grocers or other retailers outside their 5km zone

    • Do people really need to downvote over 50 cents?

      • The same could be said for upvoting?

Maybe we should have a % variance??

        • +1

idk man, egging on people to neg the deal over a matter of 50c seems petty to me
the sly agent provocateur, you 😂

deal tells me what I should pick up @ next shopping trip so a + vote from me
these are great for stir fry, give it a go!
