Intercom between Cordless Phones

Just wondering is there a cordless phone set out there, which you can call other handhelds without connecting to an actual landline?

Got this Uniden XDECT 7055 from the old office https://uniden.com.au/wp-content/uploads/XDECT_7055_2.pdf, but it doesn't seem to ring other handheld station. You could however still hear the voice from other station when you select a particular number of a handheld station. Basically, just want like a walkie talkie setup. TIA

  • Is this for business? Because either way if you have unlimited phone call plan you may as well just call their mobile phone. Facetime if you both have iPhones.

  • The Uniden XDECT 7055 supports intercom too, see:

Basically, from the handset, press the CLEAR / Intercom button, then choose the intercom to page (or choose all of them), then someone can answer the intercom from the other handset, you can chat about the weather differences in the different rooms etc.

Edit: make sure all the handsets you want to page / intercom with are connected to the same base station: you can't ping between two different landlines (that's a call).

    • But it won't ring the other handheld phone, when I select I right handset,as I mentioned above. How would the person know I need to call him, if it doesn't ring? I assumed it's setting issue?

      • +1

Have you checked the volume? I had Uniden phones years ago, and they definitely rang during the intercom (mother used to use it to summon cups of tea).

You can try de-pairing all the phones, then re-pair, see if it fixes it up.

Edit: manual page for re-registering phones:

        • Thanks I'll check again then

        • Ok, looks like I figured out how the intercom work. I actually pressed talked button, instead of select. However, I ran into weird issue again. I can call fro. I handset 1-2,but not the other way round. Weird

  • Ours does what I think you're asking for? We used to have a Uniden setup, and now we have a Panasonic one. https://www.panasonic.com/au/consumer/household/cordless-pho…

  • Yealink W60 cordless handsets

    • You need just one base station and can add multiple handsets
