2016 Mystery 96pt McLaren Vale Limited Release Grenache - $24.99 (Normally $100) + Shipping @ The Wine Collective

50

This is a 96pt scoring Grenache from a flagship producer that retails at $100 a bottle, but today, thanks to the magic of the mystery label, is now just $24.99. That is an insane 75% off.

The only catch? Well, we can't reveal this wine's identity, as everyone would be upset if we let slip that the ****** ******* ******* Grenache was selling for so few dollars.

How's it taste?
Fine, elegant, restrained and with a touch of cedar, the nose shows floral/cherry fragrance, with an underlying hint of pepper: typical of concentrated Grenache. Oak plays a minor role in the background to allow the beautiful fruit to shine through.

  • 96pts from who? JH? He’s ultra generous with his scores. Retails for $100 but they obviously can’t sell it for that. Caution!

    • Sam Kim (whoever that is)

      • 94 points from Halliday, far from glowing for him.

        • And that is only if the producer provides Halliday with the free bottles for the review.
Quite a lot of producers don't bother, so never get a Halliday review. It seems to becoming less relevant in the industry now.

MY local wino has the same brown bag he drinks out of in the park but I think it's the 98pt grange.

  • OP, that looks just like a marketing post to me, sure you are not associated?

    • I sell Ski-Doo (water motorbikes), I'm definitely not associated

    • So many better buys for that money, even at 75% off. No bargain.

There's definitely beautiful $100 Grenaches out there! Bekkers and Yangarra High Sands just in McLaren Vale alone.

These are always heavily discounted. Ive tried it and its ok, not worth $100 or anywhere near, its really a $20 bottle. MYOMU but in my opinion better wine out there at the price point

    • Which producer is it?

  • Wine is rated very well on Vivino: 4.4 out of 5 for the 2016 vintage and 4.3 out of 5 overall with 403 ratings.

Also don't forget 8.80% cash back at Cashrewards.
