Best Cheap Drawing/Graphic Tablet for Digital Whiteboard

In WFH iso, I need to draw in digital Whiteboard via Skype/Teams more often. However drawing with Mouse is really difficult.

My work laptop do not have touch screen, and I also prefer the precision of a pen.

I don't want to spend too much (maybe $100-200), as I only need to illustrate ideas, numbers, etc. Not a Picasso's drawing.

Basically the device just need to move the mouse cursor and do click thing. Wired or wirelessly, doesn't matter, but installing software/driver in the work laptop is out of the question. It needs to be plug and play like keyboard or mouse.

Any suggestions?

  • There's a chinese brand of drawing tablet that was highly recommended. I was going to buy one, but then I realized my iPad Pro is basically a 12 inch graphic drawing tablet already.

    • I need it to connect to Windows laptop, but thanks anyway.

      • It can with Duet Display, and soon Astropad are porting their solution to Windows as well. You will want your laptop to be fairly powerful though.

  • I got a Wacom Bamboo tablet from Aldi a few years ago to do a similar thing at work. I do some CAD and when I annotate over it, using the mouse to freehand draw was terrible, so I tried one of these tablets.

Check out Officeworks, they have a few different types and most of them are well within your budget, starting at about $88 for a basic model.

  • I bought this today, https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07XYW29D4/ref=ppx_od_d… comes with a bag as well.

Very good reviews, check it on YouTube. I got it for work purposes as I tend to write a lot on paper.

    • Thanks mate, but it looks like it requires a proprietary driver.

      • I'm in the same boat, I can't install absolutely anything my work computer.

I'll give it a go and I'll tell you tomorrow after I play with it a bit and see if it works on my work laptop without the drivers.

      • Hey mate,

The tablet arrived today, and I can tell you it works.

What I can't do due to proper software, modifying the function of the preset buttons or the pen's buttons.

The tablet works like a mouse. Takes a bit to get used to it, especially if you are like me and never used one.

Overall, I'm not sure yet but I'll persist with it.

        • Is it easier to draw with that?
Do you need to keep looking at the monitor or are you able to draw on the board like on a paper?

          • @Frankensnore: With this one or this type, you look at the monitor and draw/write. You will see on the screen a small pointer as you move around and there's no need to look at the tablet. The tablet's surface will mirror your screen.

I haven't worked on any other tablets but after seeing the reviews, I made the jump. All in all I think my kids will enjoy it more than me :)
