      • +2

        It's just a pun - don't worry about it.
It was offered for free by HB though as part of Amnesia Collection.

Good timing by Epic, the new Amnesia: Rebirth is out this month but I can't remember what day or where I am…

    • isnt epic being banned soon

      • +1

Lolz. Nop. No one can ban Epic as long as they keep giving away free games…. 😂

      • banned from giving 30% of their profits from fortnite to Apple from Appstore.

I was going to make a cringeworthy joke about forgetting something in the comments section of an OzBargain post about the game Amnesia but I totally forgot what the joke because I'm really not funny

  • Can't we get these epic deals combined for the Friday freebies? Having two posts every week for a different game doesn't make sense

  • Played the first one (Dark descend) long time ago.. Good story line and good graphics…

The Dark Descent > A Machine for Pigs.

This game wasn't even developed by Frictional (creators of the Penumbra, Amnesia, Soma series); instead it was developed by The Chinese Room, who are really only known for the emotional, walking simulator Dear Esther; hence you can tell survival horror is not their bread and butter and the game wastes way too much time trying to build some kind of pretentiously "deep" story and completely neglects and undoes everything that made The Dark Descent such a horror gaming milestone by introducing jump scares, far too many boring walking simulator sections, overly well-lit environments, virtually no inventory/sanity management and poor monster design to name a few issues.

      • why pigs

        • +3

The main enemies in A Machine for Pigs are "manpigs"; pig-human hybrids created via alchemical/metaphysical means by the eponymous "machine" in the title.

      • The Chinese Room also did Everybody's Gone To The Rapture, which is one of my favourite games of recent years. Pretty much my favourite game of 2015, along with Bloodborne and The Witcher 3.

        • True, I forgot about Everybody's Gone to the Rapture. Epic soundtrack for that game as well.

Nothing against Dear Esther or Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, they're both great games in their own right, but they're about as much horror game as Amnesia is real-time strategy.

Apparently Frictional feared that any sequel to the first Amnesia game wouldn't live up to the original, so they outsourced development to another studio and just supervised them instead; perhaps for plausible deniability reasons in case it flopped or because they're a tiny studio and they didn't have the resources to get a sequel out in a reasonable time frame but here's hoping Amnesia: Rebirth goes back to the franchise's roots of unflinching survival horror.
