Yes it's usually $89/month + $25 setup (free setup with this deal/coupon).
Would I recommend them? Yes. I've had a server with them for about 3 years. They are one of (if not the) biggest hosting providers in the world and if you have a web site hosted with another provider, it is possible that they are a reseller of The Planet. If you're looking for a dedicated server they always have special deals on (subscribe to their weekly deals newsletter) - I pointed out this one because they don't normally have specials on the lower-end ranges.
I had a problem a couple of months ago when there was an explosion in one of their datacentres (http://www.thewhir.com/marketwatch/060208_The_Planet_Explosi…), but I think they handled the outage honestly, openly (and quickly given the circumstances) and so that is why I am staying with them. I think other providers would have tried to cover it up.
Also, check out the online order form where you can add components to customise your order. For example $15 per month to upgrade to 1GB RAM. I recommend getting Plesk for $20 per month or cPanel for $25 per month if you're going to be hosting a number of sites on the server.

I actually got to know a VP who used to work at EV1Servers/The Planet and I have no doubt their service is good :) However I don't think I'll need a dedicate server (yet). Maybe one day :)
I find ThePlanet expensive, even with their specials, and as an ex-customer their support is nothing to brag about (being fair, nothing to complain about either).
www.thekrypt.com is our hosting, and have been with them for 2 years. In that time, I've had support responses always within 20mins and reboots within 15mins. No issue has gone unresolved or lost.
