EB Games Still Doing Trade-in on PS3 & Xbox 360

I was surprised to find that EB Games are still offering trade-in on PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles.

They are not interested in the games.

I had a PS3 250GB Slimline and was going to try to sell it privately for $50 just to get rid of it, but got offered $49 by EB Games (with controller and cables). I'm Level 2 in EB World, so that includes a 10% trade bonus.

Maybe of use to someone sitting on an older console.

  • Pre Owned Sale Prices:
    360 $48
PS3 $98 (smallest Model, some older models are $78)

As long as you do not expect much for them.

    • Absolutely.

It just saved me the hassle of dealing with Gumtree and Facebook Marketplace for something I just wanted to get rid of, and for which there will be dwindling demand.

I thought it may help some others.

  • But you can't get cash, isn't it?

    • +1

Store credit, but that suited me.

      • I was thinking whether we can get cash now. I have a Xbox One collecting dust to sell, it is too complex for me after playing on PC for years. Only console I loved was a Super Nintendo.

        • +1

Consoles are in high demand at the moment, think you could easily get rid of it for $2-300 cash.

  • I thought the older consoles were still getting 3 figures or so on the secondhand market?

    • They may be.

After having had a bunch of timewasters last time I sold on Gumtree I was happy to do it this way.

The PS3 had been sitting unused for years, and this moved it quickly.

      • Yeah fair enough - It is a pain selling things through Gumtree/Facebook at the best of times.

  • Worth having a look at CeX in future, I just checked and they offer either $59 cash or $93 credit for that particular model.

They also take games and accessories still, I sold a 160GB slim, a remote, an extra controller and 7 games and got around $115 a couple of months ago. Free shipping to them too.

    • That's certainly a better deal.

I'm in WA so no physical CeX presence here. Obviously, I could ship but more hassle.

  • Should have sold them on Ebay. Way less tyre-kickers or simply don't reply to the low ballers.

Sold heaps of things this year including consoles, no issues.

    • Sold heaps of different consoles on ebay over the years. However these days, there is a threat of getting a bad buyer via Paypal. The worst case is they claim item not delivered and then claim for a refund on buyer protection. The debit goes straight to your bank. Higher prices on ebay but with some risk.
