Belong $40 Starter Pack for $20 @ Officeworks

200

Starter Pack Features

  • 40GB Data (+40GB on the 1st billing date)
  • Unlimited national calls & sms.
  • Unlimited data banking.
  • Unlimited data gifting.
  • No lock-in contracts.
  • Flexibility to change plans once every monthly payment cycle.
  • Data slows to 64 kbps if you use all your monthly allowance.
  • Telstra 4G & 3G.
  • 12 month starter pack expiry (you have 12 months from the purchase date to activate)

Here are 2 good options for getting the most out of this starter pack. Before you activate make sure you get a referral code from a friend already with Belong or the OzBargain Belong pool for an additional $20 credit.

Option 1 (4 Months 23GB) - Activate on the $25 10GB per month plan. When the 1st billing date comes you'll get another 10GB. Then switch to the $10 1GB per month plan for the 2nd & remaining months. The first 4 months cost is covered ($40 starter pack credit plus $20 referral credit) $5.00 will be left over for the 5th month.

Option 2 (3 Months 82GB) - Activate on the $40 40GB per month plan. When the 1st billing date comes you'll get another 40GB. Then switch to the $10 1GB per month plan for the 2nd & remaining months. The first 3 months cost is covered ($40 starter pack credit plus $20 referral credit) and data rolls over every month or can be gifted.

Billing Dates (4th, 12th, 20th & 28th)
Plans are billed on the same date monthly. The time between activation and the next billing date is free.
One month worth of data is credited on activation, and another on your first payment date, 1-8 days later. So you effectively get double data for the first monthly payment at no extra cost. You can then change to a lower rate plan ($10/month) and use the banked data allowance.

Same price at Woolworths this week.

    • plus another 5% discount paid with eGift

    • Good for Victorians who can't travel to Officeworks

  • You can cancel your service by notifying us: how? I couldn't find any option on the account? or do we need to call to customer service only?

    • +1

You have to create a support ticket on their web portal

      • Their support ticket is hit and miss on cancelling your service.
If you are using this for short term eg, 1 month, beware that you may not be able to cancel your service quickly and be billed for an extra month.
I hate dealing with their support staff via email. No support team that you can ring and get things done.

        • So are you saying if you message them to cancel at least 24 hrs before the next billing date and port out they will still charge you for the next month?
If this happens I would be threatening to go to the TIO.

Also it's impossible to use this starter pack for only one month if you follow the options in the op. It's either 3 months or 4 months.

          • -1

@Arthur Dunger: It can easily be used just for 1 month, you will just not get the full benefit/value from it.

If people are worried about delayed cancellation, they can just get a free/$2 sim and port out.

    • Login your online account>Support Tab>Support Request on left-hand side> Raise a cancel request
They're pretty quick and normally it gets actioned within 24hrs.

      • No issues when I did it (twice so far).

  • In before Arthur Dunger

  • Billing Dates (4th, 12th, 20th & 28th)

So you should just activate on any day between billing dates?

    • +2

Think optimal time is a day after any of those dates

    • It was discussed here & decided it wasn't necessary.

Personally I would still activate the day after a billing date.

    +1 for the description

  • Sorry not quite understanding how this deal works but it does look very good. For option 1, is the first 4 months essentially free? And then from the 5th month there is $5 credit and then is it post paid $20/month for 23gb forever until you cancel? Thanks a lot

    • 1 - Here are 2 good options for getting the most out of this starter pack.

2 - Then switch to the $10 1GB per month plan for the 2nd & remaining months.

      • Flexibility to change plans once every monthly payment cycle.
      • Thanks sorry haha not sure why this deal is a bit confusing to me.

So its only 1gb a month going forward? And is it $20 a month forever?

        • The description was written to get the most out of the starter pack. It's up to you if you want to stay or cancel your account.

There is no $20 plan. It's either $40, $25 or $10. Maybe click on the Belong Wiki link as it's all explained there.

        • $10 per month there after. You only do the big first month for the double data since the data rolls over. $20 to purchase the $40 credit pack. Sign up, use the referral bonus for an extra $20 credit. So now you have $60 credit.

6 months at $10 credit/month (real cost $3.33/month). 1gb+bonus 1gb for signing up to the $10 plan, then 1gb per month for the

Or take a big bunch of data up front by taking the $40 credit per month plan for the 1st month (40gb + bonus 40 GB) then switch to $10/month plan for future months (1gb/month). 3 months and 82gb for $20, $6.66/month real money. You can just keep running the $10 plan until you run out of data. I don't use much data but it's nice to know there is heaps of I need it.

          • +2

@CookieJacker31: We won’t get 6 mths as of 23 July because new users can’t sign up to $10 plan. Max we can get is 4 mths with $5 credit.

            I thought you offered a $10 smaller 1G plan?

We did, but as of 23 July Belongs $10 plan will no longer be available for new sign-ups.

  • I bought a $40/40GB SIM from Woolies and I can't see anywhere in the Activation process/steps where I can enter the referral code I got from the referral pool.

For folks who purchased Belong SIM from the supermarkets, how do we enter or apply the referral code for additional bonus?

I haven't yet activated my sim nor have I asked for a verification code to be sent to my number yet.
