Another Sit/Stand Desk Post - Does anyone have the Rapidline Boost

hi all

I'm in the market for a Sit/Stand Desk, and I've seen all the other posts that focus on Zen Space Desks and Omni Desks.

Other posts have referenced this spreadsheet (not my creation), which is great:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11LXiimhecg-uI2mnGE5K…

The 3rd tab is dedicated to Boost desks manufactured by Rapidline, sold through several distributors (eg. Timfa, Elite Office, Epic Office, Catch, Ergo Link etc etc.)

https://rapidline.com.au/product/boost-electric-height-adjus…

But for whatever reason I can't see any reviews online for these desks, which have excellent specs for the asking price.

Has anyone on OzB bought one and if so, could you give us your thoughts?

I'm after the largest size (1800mm) and am wondering how good it is in actual use.

Cheers.

  • see my review here on pretty much an identical electric desk frame

it's great, use it everyday, up/down all day

    • Thanks for that. The one you have has the thicker part of the leg near the floor. The Boost has this inverted, so perhaps not quite the same.

Having said that I'm guessing the quality is about the same - you mentioned yours is a bit wobbly at 1020mm height - has this become more obvious in the past couple of months of use? Could you comment on the sturdiness at max height?

      • its not as wobbly as it might sound. Hardly even notice the any wobble when I use it normally. Its very sturdy.
Yeh it seems your link has the legs inverted compared to mine which is thicker at the bottom.

wow thanks OP for the Excel! I've been meaning to buy a electric standing desk, but weight load, sturdiness of legs, price, and not being able to test/review them have held me back…

    • +1

LOL no worries but I simply posted the link here, I didn't create it. It's been passed down from from forum post to forum post like an OzBargain family heirloom.

  • So I ended up buying the largest (1800mm) version of the Boost desk.

Haven't tried it out as yet (it's for a relo) but if anyone has any questions, I could find out as long as it's not urgent.

    • Are you able to link you exact model please? There's a lot of tables surprisingly on that Excel ha!

Also would you be able to confirm rough weight load / pressure from top / sturdiness of legs? Looking to pile some weight on with my future table, whilst not affecting the mechanic movement or balance of the table.

      Cheers again!

      • This is the one I ended up buying.

Looks like I may not be able to go over for a week or so to install it. Will let you know when I know (remind me if I forget)

        :)

        • This looks premium and rock solid! How did you narrow down the list hahaha

Looking forward to reminding you about the other Q's :)

          • @Brodo Faggins: So we set it up last night….I'm impressed with the quality (although I don't have much experience with other sit/stand desks as comparison, apart from playing with the ikea bekant in-store, which is overpriced and under-featured).

Instructions provided are clear and assembly was straightforward but took time, especially the 22 self-tapping screws that hold the legs to the desk surface (I decided to drill pilot holes first to make it easier and prevent bulge around the screws).

The assembled product seems quite sturdy. There's minimal wobble that I could absolutely live with, based on the short testing we did last night. Didn't load too much onto the desk though, it was getting late so we just put the mac and printer on there. Had to stop my brother who volunteered to climb onto the desk to test the loading haha.

It comes with 2x grommets in the top corners, and 2x metal cable management trays that can be used to guide the cabling towards (but not quite to) the sides of the desk.

The height adjustment is smoother and a lot quieter than I was expecting. The control panel simply screws on, so it can be mounted anywhere you like. It's a little bit magical to click a preset button and have the desk move to the exact position you set :)

        • ( https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/210132 )is a power tool required to assemble it or a normal manual screwdriver will do ? How did you find the desk ? Is it worth buying?

          • @Mailjintu: There are a LOT of screws (22 as per my post above) and so unless you have the patience of a zen master with large forearms, I'd highly suggest an electric screwdriver or drill with slow (screwdriver) mode.

I don't use the desk but seeing as my relos are still thanking me for the desk, I'd say there aren't any major issues. If I were in the market for a sit/stand desk, this would be top of my list given it's cheaper than the omnidesk, and you can buy locally.

this has a good comparison sheet on it

    • I think I've linked the same sheet in the OP

  • im looking for one also but want a desk that has powerpoints built in

    • From my research most of these desks allow you to purchase add-ons like powerboards. The Boost one is neat because it links to the table's control box, so you still have just one power cable from the desk to the wall (I'm guessing most desks do it the same way with the add-on powerboard).

For me personally I'd rather just attach a regular powerboard and run the wire; not as neat, but a lot cheaper.

      • Can you send the link for the desk and powerboard

  • This or OmniDesk ? Omni Desk currently $200 pricier.

What has been the feedback on this one?

    • I'll be visiting relos this weekend, I can update here with any user feedback based on the past 2 months of use.

      • Thank you sir. I am leaning towards Omnidesk in Bamboo, but the price difference is about 20-25% on similar specs.

        • so the visit didn't happen because ppl have been germy, but the feedback is - the table is great, no complaints.

  • Hey mate, am looking to buying the "Boost Height Adjustable Desk" and was wondering if you could tell me whether the tabletop came with pilot/pre-drilled holes on it for ease of attaching it to the frame? Thanks in advance.

  • no pre-drilled holes. See my comment: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/9430951/redir

  • Sorry to resurrect an old post but @andresampras I was going through the motions of a height adjustable table like the boost electric too as its low 700s… the alternatives like desky, kergo and omnidesk range from 1-1.7k for all the options that it's crazy.

Any update on how the desk has gone since the last yr plus? Is it stable at height and low? And did you get the scalloped version? Tried live chatting but still struggling with is the scalloped part the back against wall or keyboard side… And they have an option even for 1800 X 1900 (straight top no holes) any idea what this is?

    https://www.eliteofficefurniture.com.au/collections/standing…

I'm just abit sceptical as like you there's no reviews out there and all the other desk websites are the mainstream popular one everyone's gone with.

    • My uncle was struggling with back issues for many years. He still thanks me for the desk, every now and then :)

So far no complaints at all - uncle not exactly careful with his things, he wouldn't baby it whatsoever. To me that means the product does its job admirably well, if not better.

His is not the scalloped version, can't help you there soz. Have you spoken to Shane (assuming he still works there)?

edit: judging by pics on the site, the scallop seems to be designed for cable management, while the desk is up against the wall? Scallop width looks too small for anything else if you ask me. BUT that's just my guess.

      • There's a few options in the drop down though ? I think it can go to 1800 width? Which seems pretty much the biggest. I've just struggled to find deep enough tables say 75-80cm at a good price point. Anything sub $600 is either not 1800 wide or the depth is say 65cm.

You mentioned you drilled pilot holes. So all the table comes with is small holes like the IKEA style which your expected to screw down and thread into the wood? So you've drilled them "slightly larger" when you say pilot holes?

I presume the quality of the table last you seen it has held up as well given I don't think they come in wood like the $1-1.5k ones.

Edit: do you mean Shane as in you called elite office furniture the supplier? I used their live chat and got Usman… Who seemed not very overly customer centric. Seemed like he was bare minimum covering that online live chat out of necessity than trying to go above and beyond to pull another customer in (short, generally small responses. Lack of further detail or prompting).

        • if you read through the thread, everything you've asked has already been discussed.

          • @andresampras: Sorry I did read through but just had a few questions such as where you shipped to? wA based so trying to find how reliable couriers are. How long was your shipping time?

For some reason the cable management tray changes the 737 price or so forth to mod 900s… Did you get this ? Doesn't appear to come with ability to add power board or power points linked to the motors power so just one power cable to desk? I presume other brands provide this but not boost electric??

  • mine from FEB 2021 still going never have problem
google T&R sports (on ebay or their own website)

    • Theirs seem to be a different product. Is that the one you have?

  • Have just order the "Boost Plus Single Sided Height Adjustable Workstation Frame" from "Elite Office Furniture".
Just the frame as I intend to use my own top. There isn't many affordable options out there that has a height adjustment from 595mm-1245mm (not including desk top).
Also the 120kg weight rating will allow me to use a back board to attach the monitor to instead of using arms.
If you just buy the frame, it allows you to adjust the legs from 1100mm - 1800mm.
