Hi. I'm about to embark in a journey to building my very first PC. Just wondering if I should buy a motherboard now or when the Zen3 releases? My only concern is updating the motherboard's BIOS. Some motherboards feature BIOS flashback to update their BIOS without CPU, GPU or RAM. I'm considering in getting Asus Prime X570-Pro but it doesn't have the BIOS flashback button. I don't have a spare CPU to manually update the BIOS. But I would actually prefer to buy a motherboard that is compatible and ready made for Ryzen 4000s. What do you think?
Should I buy a motherboard now or when the new Zen3 releases?

What's your budget? For a general purpose / gaming build CPU performance usually doesn't matter as much because of the GPU bottleneck. I'd say the current generation is plenty fast, unless you specifically need CPU horsepower or are pairing it with a very high end GPU
Generally a good rule is to save $$$ on the CPU and throw the extra to the GPU (for gaming builds)
My budget is that I can choose to get a Ryzen 9. Therefore, not sure if it's wise to choose a Ryzen 9 now instead of the upcoming CPUs.
Some computer stores like Umart will flash the bios for you, free of charge if it's not compatible with a processor. see https://help.umart.com.au/hc/en-us/articles/360000127136-Can…
If your motherboard needs a BIOS update to be compatible with a CPU or other hardware we are able to flash/update the board free of charge at any of our stores if the motherboard is purchased from us.
If you have ordered a Motherboard to be delivered this service can be performed before the items are shipped. To organise this please call us on (07) 3369 3928 as soon as you place the order as an email may not be caught in time.
Others stores might charge you a small fee to update the BIOS before they ship out. Scorptech charges $29 and PC Case gear charges $10
Got my X370 board from Umart and have asked them to update BIOS compatible for Zen+. Recommended.
the question you should ask yourself is "do i NEED it now"
because by waiting….something better always comes along. prices will eventually go down. dont even know if there will be an X670 chipset for the new ryzen cpus. from what going around the internet it may not be called the ryzen 4XXX series. if you plan on waiting for the zen3 then you can wait on the mainboard alittle longer. only a few more days before zen3 announcement so you can make a better decision then.
